What a flop! AC Milan lost the Champions League Group Stage – Group F, Matchday 5 on Tuesday 28 November 2023 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Miland was defeated at home by Borussia Dortmund. Yet, despite the defeat, Milan still have little chance for qualification thanks to the penalty scored by Kylian Mbappé in the 98th minute of PSG-Newcastle, for the final 1-1. First of all, they will have to win in England against the Magpies on December 13th, but they will also have to hope for a simultaneous knockout. of Parisians in Dortmund. Really very complicated in terms of interlocking results.

The qualification is very complicated and only a miracle can help AC Milan.

The game started with a negative feeling. In the 6th minute, Forward Olivier Giroud failed to convert a penalty because the goalkeeper saved the left-footed in the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Nico Schlotterbeck following a handball in the penalty area.

Borussia Dortmund took the lead in the 10th minute. Marco Reus converted a penalty defeating AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Davide Calabria after a foul on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

AC Milan equalized in the 38th minute. Samuel Chukwueze defeated Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Davide Calabria. This is Chukwueze first goal with Milan, celebration!

Total chaos. Borussia Dormung scored a third goal!

Stats before the game: Young Boys have faced Red Star more often than any other team in all European competitions (five, including qualifiers), without managing to win any of these five matches (D4, L1). This will be Red Star’s first trip to Switzerland in a major European competition since their 4-1 win over Grasshopper in the 1990/91 European Cup. They didn’t win any of the other four away matches on Swiss soil (2N, 2L). Young Boys are looking for their first Champions League win since September 2021 (2-1 against Manchester United), having failed to win any of their last nine matches in the competition (D3, L6). 11 of the last 13 victories in major European competitions have been in home matches.
Red Star have not won away from home in the European Cup/Champions League since March 1992, when they won 2-0 at Panathinaikos. Indeed, they have lost each of their last nine away games in the two competitions with an aggregate score of 6-31. Of all the teams participating in this Champions League, Young Boys is the one that has currently not kept a clean sheet for the longest time in the competition: it has conceded goals in all 16 matches played so far.

🏆👉 Lineup AC MILAN (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernández; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Giroud, Pulisic.

🏆👉 Lineup BORUSSIA DORTMUND (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Can, Sabitzer; Malen, Reus, Bynoe-Gittens; Füllkrug.
