Atalanta returning on Thursday 13 August to Bergamo after their historical participation in the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals against Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday 12 August in Portugal. Atalanta qualified for the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League after reaching the competition for the first time in their history because they ended in the 3rd position in the 2018–19 Serie A season. Allow me to stand up and applaud the entire Atalanta Club including staff, players, and fans.
In Bergamo 113-year history, there was none “0” participation of their local soccer team “Atalanta” playing in the prestigious UEFA Champions League. You bet, the arrival of Coach Gian Piero Gasperini added a punch lifting the morale of the so-called provincial team to dream big. And you bet, they dreamed big! A dream shared by all of us embracing Atalanta in their Champions League adventure.
The bad news was that they ended the 2019-2020 adventure in the Quarterfinals. The good news is that Atalanta qualified for the next 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League! The dream continues… and we all embrace the team and push Atalanta’s bandwagon to make it to the top. Forza Atalanta and thanks for giving us so much joy. Hats off!!!!
I am joining virtually the fans in Bergamo to welcome @Atalanta_BC returning from Portugal following the @ChampionsLeague quarterfinals against PSG. Grazie Ragazzi, so proud of you! https://t.co/meViqrDzpm

. Mamma what a Dea! @Atalanta_BC mocked just one step away from the semifinals after the goal by Pasalic. PSG draws in the 90' and wins in the recovery. Gasperini: Great regret.

Atalanta losing the UEFA Champions League Quarter-finals game against Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday 12 August 2020 at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica in Lisbon, Portugal. It is a very painful defeat because Atalanta had the lead until the 90th minute, and in the last 5 minutes, lost concentration with Paris Saint Germain scoring two goals to claim the victory. I am very sad, yet, I give a standing ovation to Atalanta for honoring Italy playing good football and their fantastic season.
Atalanta and Paris Saint Germain will meet in Lisbon in the first of this season’s one-off UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Bravoooooo it is Atalanta to open the score in the 27th minute. Mario Pašalić defeating Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas with a left footed shot in the top left corner. The assist is by Colombian forward Duván Zapata. Forzaaaaaa

Paris Saint Germain equalizing in the 90th minute. It is Marquinhos to defeat Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello from very close range with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner. The assist is by Neymar.
Oh noooooo what a luck! Atalanta conceding 2 goals in less than 5 minutes and lost the game! My heart is in pain, I am just devastated. In the 94th minute, it is Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to score from very close range with a right footed shot in the center. The assist is by Kylian Mbappé. Oh well….. even with this elimination, I applaud Atalanta for the joy they gave us all in Italy and worldwide.
Atalanta 1- 2 Paris Saint Germain, 94th minute, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting giving the winner goal to PSG with a right footed shot in the center. The assist is by Kylian Mbappé. It’s hard to wake up like this, suddenly. It hurts, it burns. But the memory of an incredible and extraordinary dream stays, as stays the awareness that we can and want to dream again. 💔👊#UCL#GoAtalantaGo ⚫️🔵 pic.twitter.com/m4IGXx8JAI
