Atalanta wasted the chance to remain in the sole position after their draw against Cremonese stepping down to the 2nd position.  Atalanta had to share 1 point with Cremonese ending with just 2 points and remaining in the relegation zone.

Napoli defeated Spezia at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.    A precious victory thanks to the late goal in the 89th minute by Giacomo Raspadori.  Spezia remains at 5 points. We might say it is a suffered victory because Spezia put up a strong fold until the end. In the next round, Napoli will play the away game against AC Milan, while Spezia will play an important salvation game against Sampdoria.

AC Milan defeated Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.  The victory helped AC Milan to continue the race toward the top position while Sampdoria remain in the relegation zone.  Milan played with 10 players since the 47th minute after Rafael Leão was sent off with a red card. At the moment Milan hooks Napoli at the top of the standings. Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo also got a red card in the 97th minute for protesting.  In the next round, Sampdoria will seek their first victory of the season in another delicate challenge in the “derby” against Spezia, while Milan will play the super match against Napoli in San Siro.

Inter win in extremis against Torino at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium .  This victory is a boost for the morale of the team after losing their last 2 games last week against AC Milan and in the Champions League to Bayern Munich. Inter reached 12 points. Tough defeat for Torino who sees a draw away one minute from the end of the match. Torino collected a second defeat in the league, and now risk being overtaken by Juventus and Lazio.

Juventus slowed down their sprint race to start climbing the standings ending with a 2-2 draw against Salernitana at the Allianz Stadium.  Referee Marcenato canceled a late goal for Juventus in the 94th minute for offside.  Tough ending because Marcenaro also gave a red card to Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri and Arkadiusz Milik in the 96th minute and 3 minutes later to Juan Cuadrado while for Salernitana the red card to Federico Fazio.  In the next round, Juventus will visit Monza while Salernitana will host Lecce.

Empoli defeated by Roma at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. This is an important away victory for Roma grabbing all three points.   Paulo Dybala gave the lead to Roma then the equalizer by Filippo Bandinelli. The winner goal was scored by Tammy Abraham. Sadly, Lorenzo Pellegrini celebrated his 200th appearance with Roma by failing to convert a penalty. Empoli ended with 10 players in the 87th minute with Akpa Akpro getting a red card.  Roma climbed to the 5th position.

Napoli, 2nd position with 11 points and a positive goal difference of +8

Napoli win the Serie A Week 6 game defeating Spezia on Saturday 10 September 2022 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli, Italy.    A precious victory thanks to the late goal by Giacomo Raspadori gave Napoli the momentary solo leadership, waiting for the matches of AC Milan and Atalanta. Spezia remains at 5 points. We might say it is a much suffered victory because Spezia put up a strong fold until the end. In the next round, Napoli will play the away game against AC Milan, while Spezia will play an important salvation game against Sampdoria.

Napoli opened the score in the 89th minute. Giacomo Raspadori defeated Spezia goalkeeper with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Gianluca Gaetano.

Napoli Coach Luciano Spalletti got a red card and will miss the crucial game next week against AC Milan in San Siro.

✅  Stats before the game: In the 4 previous Serie A games between Napoli and Spezia there have been 2 victories for each, both obtained by the team that played the match away. In the previous six seasons of Serie A, Napoli have always reached at least 12 points after the first 6 games played (currently after five games it is at 11) – to go back to a lower result after the first six rounds, we go back to the season 2015/16 (nine points in that case). Spezia is in line with the results obtained in the two previous Serie A championships after the first five games played: 5 points in this tournament, there were four in 2021/22 and five in 2020/21; in both the two previous tournaments the Ligurians were defeated in the sixth game. After drawing his first Serie A match against Napoli as a coach, Luca Gotti has remedied four defeats in his last four matches against Napoli: against no team he recorded a worse average points in the maximum tournament.  One of the three braces scored in Serie A by Giacomo Raspadori came against Spezia, taking over from the bench at the Peak on December 5, 2021; that was also the last game the former Sassuolo striker played against the Ligurians in the top tournament.  Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has scored four goals in his first five Serie A games: if he hits the target with Spezia, he would become Napoli’s second fastest player in the era of three points per win (since 1994/95) to reach five goals in the maximum tournament (six appearances, in fact) – better than him only Edinson Cavani, five goals in five appearances in 2010/11.

👉 Lineup  NAPOLI (4-3-3): Meret – Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Jesus, Mario Rui – Anguissa, Ndombele, Elmas – Politano, Raspadori, Kvaratskhelia.

👉 Lineup SPEZIA (4-4-2): Dragowski – Ampadu, Kiwior, Nikolaou – Holm, Agudelo, Bourabia, Bastoni, Reca – Gyasi, Nzola.
