Italian Soccer Serie A

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 31 RESULTS / Thirty-first Round on Friday 21, Saturday 22, Sunday 23, and Monday 24 April 2023.  Napoli remain the sole leader with 78 points.  Mathematically speaking, Napoli could collect the Scudetto next week!!!!!!!  Yes, here is how: If Inter beat or draw with Lazio next weekend while Napoli defeat Salernitana, Napoli will have won the Serie A title. Simple as 1+1.   Napoli have a +17 lead over Lazio in the 2nd place with 61 points.

Note:  On Thursday 20 April 2023, the Sports Court within the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) ruled that the punishment against Juve must be reevaluated and as such, the 15-point penalty was suspended. In sum, three months after Juventus lost 15 points, Juventus got its 15 points back.   Therefore, Juventus, who were in the 7th position climbed to the 3rd position after recovering their 15 points reaching 59 points.

Napoli have won both of their seasonal matches against Juventus in Serie A for the fourth time in their history, having previously succeeded in 2009/10, 1986/87 and 1957/58. Giacomo Raspadori’s goal (92` 48″) is the latest goal scored by a Napoli player against Juventus in Serie A since Opta collects this type of data (since 2004/05).

In 2023, only Roma (21) have won more points at home than Verona (17) in Serie A TIM. Simone Verdi’s penalty goal is the first from the penalty spot by a Verona player in Serie A TIM since the one scored by Gianluca Caprari against Spezia on 6 March 2022.

Salernitana remained unbeaten in eight straight games for the first time in their history in Serie A (W2, D6). Boulaye Dia (11 goals) is one of only two Salernitana players to have scored more than 10 goals in a single Serie A season, alongside Marco Di Vaio (12 in 1998/99).

Torino went unbeaten at the Olimpico for three consecutive matches (W1, D2) for the first time in the era of three points for a win in Serie A. Torino beat Lazio in Serie A TIM for the first time since 26 May 2019, ending a run of seven consecutive matches without success with the biancocelesti in the tournament (D4, L3).

Bruno Amione scored his first goal in Serie A TIM today in 21 appearances in the top flight: 20 of these, the Argentinian played with Sampdoria in this tournament.

Romelu Lukaku hadn’t found a goal from open play in Serie A TIM since 13 August against Lecce, 253 days have passed since then. Lautaro Martínez became the first Inter player to score at least 15 goals in three or more consecutive seasons in Serie A TIM since Mauro Icardi, between 2014/15 and 2017/18 (four in that case).

It was since 22 May 2022 against Salernitana that Udinese failed to score three goals in a Serie A TIM first half.

Isaac Success managed to score with his 35th shot made this season.

It was 18 April 2018 that Fiorentina hadn’t lost a match in Serie A from a two-goal lead, at home against Lazio (3-4).

Michele Di Gregorio’s is the 4th assist provided by a goalkeeper in this Serie A: since Opta collected this data (2004/05), only in 2020/21 have there been more winning passes by full backs (5) in one single season of the tournament.

Sampdoria, 20th position with 16 points and a negative goal difference of -32

Sampdoria with a wake-up call to start earning points towards salvation. Sampdoria wasted the chance to win the Serie A Week 31 game ending with a draw against Spezia on Saturday 22 April 2023 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy. A point that Sampdoria doesn’t need, yet, a draw that brings Spezia closer to salvation. 1-1 in the final, Verde responds to Amione’s goal in the second half. Both teams tried to win until the end, with Zoet and Ravaglia as protagonists, able to save their own goals.

Sampdoria opened the score in the 23rd minute. Bruno Amione defeated Spezia goalkeeper Zoet with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Tommaso Augello following a corner conceded by Dimitrios Nikolaou

Spezia equalized for the 1-1 in the 60th minute. Daniele Verde defeated Sampdoria goalkeeper with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Simone Bastoni.

✅ Stats before the game: Among the teams they have faced at least five times in Serie A, Sampdoria is the only one against which Spezia have always found the goal: three wins for the Aquilotti, a draw and a success for the Sampdoria in the previous five. Spezia’s three victories over Sampdoria in Serie A have reached the peak: in fact, at Ferraris a draw and a 2-1 victory for the Dorians (in both matches the Sampdoria team scored exactly two goals). Spezia have won four of the nine Serie A derbies against Ligurian teams (D2, L3), against opponents from no region they have achieved more victories in the top division (four also against teams from Campania, but in 12 previously). In the last 10 matches, Sampdoria managed to avoid defeat five times (W1, D4), as many as in the first 20 games of this championship (W2, D3). Spezia have won only one of their last 12 league days (against Inter) and haven’t found the three away points since January 15 against Turin

👉 Lineup Sampdoria (3-4-2-1) – Ravaglia; Gunter, Murillo, Amione; Zanoli, Winks, Rincon, Augello; Leris, Gabbiadini; Lammers.

👉 Lineup Spezia (4-3-3) – Zoet; Amian, Wisniewski, Nikolaou, Bastoni; Bourabia, Esposito, Ekdal; Gyasi, Nzola, Maldini.

Italian Soccer Serie A

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 30 RESULTS / Thirtieth Round on Friday 14, Saturday 15, Sunday 16, and Monday 17 April 2023.  Napoli remain the sole leader with 74 points.  The gap between 1st and 2nd place is +14 points because Lazio have 61 points.  Simply put, the Scudetto for Napoli is just around the corner.

Roma are detached in third place, increasing the gap on the fifth in the standings to 5 points. Mourinho’s team remains unbeaten once again (third consecutive match in Serie A, it hasn’t happened since 2017) and is preparing for the sprint that will decide access to the next Champions League (in the next 4 matches they will have to face Milan and Inter at the Olimpico and Atalanta in Bergamo, in addition to Monza).

For the first time Inter have lost three home games in a row without scoring in Serie A.

Cremonese have won two games in a row for the first time in this league: they hadn’t succeeded in Serie A since March 1996 (vs Lazio and Padova) with Luigi Simoni on the bench.

Against Cremonese, Empoli recorded a 68% ball possession percentage, the highest against a single opponent in this Serie A TIM season.

Lazio have collected 61 points in 30 days of this Serie A TIM, only twice in their history (considering three points for a win) have they done better: 62 in 2000/01 and 68 in 2019/20, always finishing in the top four. Lazio have kept clean sheets in all of their last five Serie A TIM away games, equaling their own record in the competition (1998 under Sven Goran Eriksson).

Nicola Sansone equaled Gregoire Defrel as the player who has scored the quickest goal for Milan since the start of a Serie A match since Opta has collected this data (since 2004/05): both scored after just 33 seconds.

Tommaso Pobega scored away in Serie A TIM for the first time since 12 May 2021 (brace against Sampdoria) – all of his next six goals scored in the competition before today had in fact come at home.

Napoli ended a run of 25 straight matches without a draw in Serie A TIM; it was the team in this league that hadn’t drawn a match for the most matches.

Hellas Verona have remained unbeaten in three of their last six Serie A matches against Napoli (W1, D3), after a run of six defeats in a row.

Before Monza, the last team to win their first away match against Inter in Serie A was Chievo in December 2001 (1-2).

The player who covered the most kilometers in the last round was Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (13,664 km). After the Lazio midfielder there are Tommaso Baldanzi from Empoli (13,104 km) and Maxime Lopez from Sassuolo (12,715 km).

Fabiano Parisi was the player who made the most dribbles in the last round of the championship: 9 for the Empoli defender, followed by Nico Gonzalez of Fiorentina with 6 dribbles.

The goalkeeper who made the most saves was Sampdoria goalkeeper Nicola Ravaglia (9), followed by Monza’s Michele di Gregorio and Atalanta’s Marco Sportiello, both on 6 points.
