👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Atalanta, 10th with 4 points and a goal difference of “0”
Salernitana, 20th position with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -9

Salernitana succumbing to the pressure failing to win the Serie A Week 4 game against Atalanta on Saturday 18 September 2021 at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy.  Salernitana are in the last position and still not winning a game this season.  Wake up call for Salernitana is loud for a change.  Atalanta have achieved 13 wins and 3 draws in their last 15 Serie A matches against newly promoted formations and have not lost against any of them since November 2018 (3-2 defeat in Empoli).

  • Stats before the game.  There are two previous Serie A matches between Salernitana and Atalanta: two draws (0-0 both) in the 1947/48 season.  The most recent precedent between these two teams in the league dates back to the double crossing of Serie B 2003/04: 1-3 in Salerno, 0-0 in Bergamo; in general, Atalanta are unbeaten in the eight cadetries against Salernitana (5V, 3N).  Salernitana (three knockouts so far) has never found defeat in all four of the first Serie A matches in its history (two championships played before this one). A draw and a defeat in the last two days for Atalanta: the Bergamo team will not remain three games in a row in Serie A without winning since November 2020 (2N, 1P on that occasion).   Salernitana has collected 11 goals in these first three days; since Serie A returned to 20 teams (2004/05) only three teams have collected at least 12 goals in the first four Serie A rounds: Benevento (12 in 2020/21), Sassuolo (15 in 2013/14) and Livorno (12 in 2007/08).  The matches of Salernitana, together with those of Bologna and Sassuolo, are those that up to now have not seen even a goal in the first 30 minutes of play (zero facts and zero suffered for the Campania players in that time frame).

Atalanta opening the score in the 75th minute. Colombian forward Duván Zapata defeating Salernitana goalkeeper Belec with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Josip Ilicic.

👉 Lineup SALERNITANA (3-4-1-2): Belec; Gyomber, Strandberg, Gagliolo; Kechrida, M. Coulibaly, L. Coulibaly, Ranieri; Ribery; Gondo, Djuric.

👉 ATALANTA (3-4-2-1): Musso; Toloi, Demiral, Djimsiti; Maehle, Pasalic, Freuler, Gosens; Malinovskyi, Miranchuk; Zapata.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game
Bologna, 6th position with 7 points and a positive goal difference of +2
Inter, 4th position with 7 points and a positive goal difference of +6

Inter win in grand style the Serie A Week 4 game defeating Bologna on Saturday 18 September 2021 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Inter survived the pressure to win to climb the Serie A Standing and it seems Bologna forgot how to play. We might even ask whether Bologna Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic prepared for this game. Humiliation! It was all party for Inter!

Inter opening the score in the 6th minute. It is Lautaro Martínez to defeat Bologna goalkeeper from very close range with a right footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Denzel Dumfries.

Bologna in problems. Inter increasing the score for the 2-0 in the 30th minute.

Inter are just rocking at the Meazza. In the 34th minute there is a third goal for the 3-0. It is Nicolò Barella to score with a right footed shot to the top right corner.

It’s all Inter dominion crushing Bologna with a 4-0 in the 54th minute. Matías Vecino scoring with a right footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Federico Dimarco.

Inter at their best humiliating Bologna with a 5-0 in the 63rd minute. It is forward Edin Dzeko to blast the net with a right footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Marcelo Brozovic

Blasssssttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Image

What else to say? Curtain Call? Have mercy? Inter slapping Bologna with a 6-0. Total chaos for Bologna falling big time at the Meazza, totally humiliated. Edin Dzeko with a brace scoring in the 68th minute with a right footed shot to the high center.

Bologna scoring the honor goal in the 87th minute. Arthur Theate scoring his first goal as a Bologna player.

  • Stats before the game.  Inter have won both games of last season against Bologna, but haven’t achieved three consecutive Serie A wins against the Emilians since 2010, when José Mourinho was on the bench.  Bologna have won four of the last nine Serie A away games on Inter’s field (2N, 3P): from the 2011/12 championship to today, only Juventus (five) have achieved more successes at the Meazza against the Nerazzurri than the Emilian team (four, in fact).  Bologna have found the way to scoring in all of their last 10 Serie A away games on Inter’s field (14 goals in total): they are the Serie A team that boasts the longest open streak with at least one goal to their credit. Meazza against the Nerazzurri from 2010/11 to today.  Inter have won their last 17 home league games, only three teams in Serie A history have struck a longest streak of home wins: Turin in 1948 (21), Milan in 1950 (19) and Juventus in 2014 (25) and 2017 (33).  Inter have scored at least two goals in each of the last eight Serie A matches: they have not reached nine league games in a row with at least two goals to their credit since February 2007 (10 in that case).  Bologna are back from three consecutive away draws: they haven’t reached four in a row away from home in Serie A since December 2008, when Sinisa Mihajlovic was on the bench.

👉 Lineup INTER (3-5-2): 1 Handanovic; 37 Skriniar, 6 de Vrij, 95 Bastoni; 2 Dumfries, 23 Barella, 77 Brozovic, 8 Vecino, 32 Dimarco; 10 Lautaro, 19 Correa.

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Sassuolo, 9th position with 4 points and a goal difference of “0”
Torino, 11th position with 3 points and a positive goal difference of +2

Sassuolo failing to win the  Serie A Week 4 game on Friday 17 September 2021 at the Mapei Stadium in Sassuolo, Italy.  Torino causing an upset and grab this important away victory defeating Sassuolo.  Torino reach now 6 points while Sassuolo remain with 4 points.

  • Stats before the game.  Sassuolo have only won in one of their last 10 Serie A games  with Torino (2-1 success at home in January 2020):  4 draws and 5 Torino wins in this set, including the 3-2 in Piedmont of the last crossing in March.  Six of the 8 Serie A matches between Sassuolo and Torino at the neroverdi’s home ended in a draw (one victory for each side in the remaining two): that grenade is the team against which the Emilians have drawn several times at home in the top flight (six, precisely).
Sassuolo, defeated in the last round of the league, have not lost two consecutive Serie A games since July 2020; the neroverde team, stopped at 0-0 by Sampdoria in the last home round, does not remain without scoring for two consecutive home league games from November 2020.  Torino, who lost in the first away match of this championship to Florence, have not lost both of their first two Serie A away games since 2016/17 (knocked out against Milan and Atalanta in that case).  Ivan Juric has never won in his career as a manager in Serie A on the fourth day of the championship: three defeats and a draw for him between Genoa and Verona.

Empoli  failing to win the Serie A Week 3 game defeated by Venezia on Saturday 11 September 2021 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.  Empoli just crumbled after defeating Juventus on Week 2 at the Allianz Stadium reaching 3 points while Juventus remained with just 1 point.  The party time is for Venezia winning their first game this season collecting all 3 points in this away victory.  Thomas Henry scoring the historical goal because it is Venezia’s first goal in Serie A after their promotion from Serie B!!!

Juventus with a major blow defeated by Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.  Surely, it is not the ideal start for Juventus having only 1 point.  Napoli with the ideal start winning their 3 games to have a perfect score of 9 points.

Atalanta succumbing to the pressure failing to win the Serie A Week 3 game defeated  by Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium  Fiorentina win this away game reaching 6 points while Atalanta remain with 4 points.  An unforgettable game for Dusan Vlahovic converting 2 penalties for Fiorentina, so far, Vlahovic has scored 20 goals in Serie A in 2021 calendar year behind Lewandowski (30), Messi (23) and Haaland (22)with more goals in the Top-5 European Leagues.  This defeat is a blow for Atalanta ahead of their Champions League game next week.  Atalanta have won their last three Serie A games against Fiorentina until now; Atalanta have never reached four wins in a row against Fiorentina (three also in 1942).

Inter failing to win the Serie A Week 3 game against Sampdoria ending with a 2-2 draw.  The draw is not a total good news for Inter ahead of their Champions League next week.   Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi’s celebrates his 200th bench in Serie A with this draw (110 victories so far); only Antonio Conte (136) has won more after the same number of games between coaches in the era of three points per victory (since 1994/95).   Sampdoria grabbing this important point reaching 2 points while stopping the fast Inter train.

AC Milan win the Serie A Week 3 game against Lazio at San Siro Stadium.  The victory secures AC Milan the perfect score and a boost for the Champions League next week.  Lazio  not only losing the game, but also losing the first position.  Milan making history winning their first three league games for two seasons in a row for the first time in Serie A. Highlight of the game, the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a goal.

AS Roma win the Serie A Week 3 game defeating Sassuolo at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Congratulations to José Mourinho celebrating his 1000 games with the clubs, considering all competitions (637 wins, 205 draws, 157 lost).  Roma is the first team with which José Mourinho wins five wins in the first five official benches at the helm of a club in his career. The hero is forward Stephan El Shaarawy starting as a substitute to score the winner goal in the 91st minute.  A best way to celebrate Mourinho’s 1,000 game with a victory and the 1st position in Serie A this week.  AS Roma have won six consecutive home games considering all competitions for their first time since December 2017.

Bologna win the Serie A Week 3 game defeating Hellas Veronaon at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium   Verona losing all 3 games and the alarm sounds loud for help.  The victory helped Bologna to climb the Serie A Standing  climbing to the 6th position with 7 points while Verona stepped down to the 19th position in the relegation zone.
