Hello my friends!  Here is the  Serie A 2014 – 2015  Preview for  Week 2  for games from Saturday 13 to Monday 15 September after the international break.   We are just starting the season and it is still too early to have one solid candidate for the Scudetto.

One of the awaited debut  in this round is to see Spanish forward Fernando Torres with AC Milan.  Although we might not see Torres playing all 90 minutes, fans are  preparing to see him score and be one of the main pillars in this season.   Coach Filippo Inzaghi  will have to rearrange his formation because forward Stephan El Shaarawy is injured.  Most likely , we will see Keisuke Honda and forward Jeremy Menez plaing with Torres.

The two games on Saturday are Empoli vs AS Roma and Juventus vs Udinese.  Pressure for Roma and Juventus to win  their respective games to be among the top three teams.  Problem is for Juventus who might think twice whether to use forward Carlos Tevez not fully recovered or give him  resting time to be ready for the upcoming Champions League game against Malmo.  Plus midfielder Arturo Vidal also injured.

Inter – Sassuolo is also a game to watch.  Sassuolo still remembering the embarrassing defeat 7-0 last season!  It will be tough for Sassuolo to defeat Inter at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, but inspiration is high seeing forward Zaza living a good moment and even scoring for Italy national team against Norway.

The match Lazio vs Cesena still with the intrique to see Lazio forward Miroslav Klose or Djordjevic leading the attack. We might see the debut of defender Gentiletti too.

Good news is for Napoli vs Chievo.  Argentinian forward Gonzalo Higuain recovered and most likely leading the attack along Lorenzo Insigne. in corso.  Bad news is for Chievo because Schelotto might be out still injured.  Pressure now is for forward Alberto Paloschi and Botta to be decisive with forward Maxi Lopez.  On paper, Napoli shoudl win this game, but nothing is taken for granted.

Hello my friends!  This is it!  Finally Serie A 2014 – 2015 Season starting!!!  Are you happy?  You bet I am so happy awaiting for this season with so many changes.  Let’s recap a bit what’s going.  The defending Italy’s Champions is Juventus.  The three teams promoted to Serie A this season are Empoli, Palermo, and Cesena.

The news and main challenge for Juventus this season is not having “Mr. Scudetto Coach Antonio Conte.”  Yep.  Conte left Juventus after winning 3 consecutive Scudetto and now coaching the Italian National team.   The tough challenge is for new Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri to keep Juventus at  Conte’s  same or better level.   Bad thing is that Allegri, on paper, does not have a brilliant curriculum and on top of that left AC Milan in chaos last season.   Technically, the three main contenders for the Scudetto this season will be Juventus, AS Roma, Fiorentina, Napoli, and Inter.

AC Milan having the main challenge to rise from the ashes.  New coach Filippo Inzaghi have the objective to put Milan back on track again.  AC Milan were left out from European competition this season after not qualifying neither to the Champions League nor Europa League.

News for this game is the debut of former AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri now coaching Juventus. As for Chievo, they have the same coach Eugenio Corini.

Bad news for Juventus is the absence of midfielder Andrea Pirlo “the ing of the midfield” for injury.  Reportedly, Pirlo will be out for 1 month.

Serie A PREVIEW Week 38, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 38 on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May 2014, matchday 38

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the final Serie A PREVIEW for the Serie A Week 38, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May 2014, matchday 38.  The 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end precisely this Sunday May 18!   Juventus winning the 2013-2014 on Week 36!

The future next year at the top level already done.  Yep, Juventus winning the Scudetto securing their participation in the Champions League next season.  Juventus reaching 99 points and will look to celebrate the “100” mark in their home stadium against Cagliari.

Roma also securing the Champions League next season.  Roma will be playing the away game at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium against Genoa.  Roma will remain in the second position whether they win, draw, or lose.  Genoa nothing to lose because they are already saved to remain in Serie A.

The real battle to be defined is which team will have the last spot for the Europa League zone… Yep, the 4th position is already secured by Fiorentina with 64 points and the 5th position by Inter with 60 points.  For the moment, Torino holding the 6th position with 56 points.  Torino will need to defeat Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.  Fore sure, Fiorentina despite already being qualified in Europa will look to end the season with a home victory to delight their fans.  Pressure is for Torino because a defeat might leave them out in case of Parma defeating Livorno.  As for AC Milan and Hellas Verona, they already had their chances and wasted them.  Milan and Verona will hope for Torino and Parma to lose their respective games to make it to the 6th position.   Milan playing the home game against Sassuolo already saved, but even a victory won’t be enough.  Verona playing the away game against Napoli at the San Paolo Stadium…mamma mia, that’s even more challenging.

Here is the situation..  make your calculations for the final Europa League battle…. the whole thing is who will get the 6th position….

6  Torino 37 15 11 11 56 46 9 6 4 31  20 6 5 7 25 26 10 56
7 Parma 37 14 13 10 56 46 8 7 3 25 18 6 6 7 31 28 10 55
8 AC Milan 37 15 9 13 55 48 10 4 4 26 16 5 5 9 29 32 7 54
9 Hellas Verona 37 16 6 15 61 63 10 3 6 35 28 6 3 9 26 35 -2 54

Sad news for 3 teams, mathematically speaking, Bologna, Catania, and Livorno are already relegated to Serie B.  The last match in Serie will be for their own pride giving their best in their respective games.  Bologna playing the away game against Lazio at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Lazio nothing to lose either as they won’t be able to make it to the Europa League Zone even with a victory due to goal difference.

Catania saying goodbye to the Serie A playing at home at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium against Atalanta.   For Catania, is a must at least to win this game to thanks their fans. Atalanta nothing to lose here.

Livorno also saluting the Serie A in an away game at the Ennio Tardini Stadium against Parma. Wow, here is a tough situation.  Surely, you won’t expect Livorno not to battle in their last Serie A game, but the pressure is for Parma having 55 points.

Serie A PREVIEW Week 37, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 36 on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for the Serie A Week 37, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37.   Countdown my friends! 1 more games after this Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!   The fact is that we already know who won the Scudetto!  Yep.  Juventus winning the 2013-2014 last week!

Second position now is for AS Roma with 85 points whether they win, draw, or lose.  Ironically, the confrontation now between Roma vs Juventus is at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium and neither of the teams have nothing else to worry about.  Juventus will celebrate the Scudetto while Roma will be an observer.  Roma lost their chances to catch up Juventus last week after being humiliated by Catania at the Angelo Massimino Stadium with a 4-1.  This is a game for pride.  Roma will look to ruin the party mood of Juventus by defeating them.  Question is whether Juventus will let the Roman gladiators to ruin their Scudetto party.

As for the third position it belongs to Napoli with 85 points whether they win, draw, or lose.  The gap with the fourth position held by Fiorentina with 61 points is of 9 points.

We expect to see the last sprint race towards the Europa League zone.  For the moment, Fiorentina are the ones securing their spot being in the 4th position with 61 points.  We have four more teams battling for a spot in the Europa League with chances to make it depending on a combination of results.  Inter with 57 points will need to win this game against Lazio at the Meazza Stadium. Lazio with 53 points also having chances to make it in case of defeating Inter will reach 56 points.  Torino with 55 points facing  Parma is more a direct “Europa battle.”   Torino will make it to 58 points in case of defeating Parma.  Here is the thing.  A draw for Torino – Parma will not help, but risking their qualification.  Following closely is AC Milan also with 54 points.  Milan will play the away game against Atalanta at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia Stadium.  Milan will need to defeat Atalanta and hope for Torino-Parma to draw to jump to the 6th position.  So, simply put,  Fiorentina, Inter, Torino, Parma, AC Milan, and Hellas Verona will be checking their respective results and making “calculations” to see whether they have a chance for the Europa League.

Battle for salvation are also in extremis.   Desperate moments for Catania with 26 points and Livorno with 25 points because if they lose their respective games, it means their goodbye to Serie A and start packing for relegation in Serie B.  Bologna with 29 points will face Catania at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium!  OUCH… here is a true battle for salvation. Bologna will look to win the home game and hope for salvation in Serie A next season.  Sassuolo and Chievo are also in danger of falling in the relegation zone.  An advantage for Sassuolo is they are playing the home game against Genoa.  Motivation high for Sassuolo after defeating Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi last week with a mega 3-4 results!  Chievo Verona playing the away game against Cagliari at the Sant’Elia Stadium.

Serie A PREVIEW Week 37, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 36 on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for
the
Serie A Week 37, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37.   Countdown my friends! 1 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!
