I have to say, the competition for the Scudetto is really heating up!

It’s hard to believe that Napoli missed out on winning the match against Venezia ending with a draw. Napoli is now tied with Inter at 61 points. The good news is for Inter because they secured a victory tonight against Atalanta.  Inter reached 64 points having the lead with a 3-point advantage over Napoli with 61.  Inter has a 6-point lead over Atalanta with 58 points.

Venezia 0-0 Napoli. Meanwhile, Venezia has reached 20 points but is still 5 points away from safety.   This marks Napoli’s fifth draw in their last seven matches, placing them alongside Inter at the top of the standings, albeit with one extra game played. On the other hand, Di Francesco’s Venezia achieved their fourth consecutive positive result, having also had several chances throughout the game. For Venezia, this draw feels more like a triumph as they managed to hold off a formidable opponent.

AC Milan staged an impressive comeback to secure a victory beating Como in San Siro.  They turned the game around from a 0-1 deficit to win 2-1.  It is a significant victory to boost the morale for the team, which has been facing a challenging season. However, with 47 points, Milan is still outside the European qualification spots.  This marks Milan’s second consecutive win, as they continue to rally back and have now climbed to seventh place in the standings, temporarily surpassing Roma and Fiorentina, who are set to play against Cagliari and Juventus, respectively. On the other hand, Como is struggling, having gone three matches without a win and sitting at 29 points, just seven points clear of the relegation zone as they await Empoli’s match against Torino. The decisive goal was netted by Tijjani Reijnders.

What a fantastic win for Fiorentina, giving their spirits a significant lift! It was yet another enchanting evening for the Viola as they triumphed over Juventus with a score of 3-0. The race for the Champions League is heating up, bringing several teams back into contention. Fiorentina now sits at 48 points, just 5 points behind Bologna, who is currently in fourth place. Juventus remains stagnant at 48 points.  The match featured two goals in the first half from Robin Gosens and Rolando Mandragora, followed by a third from Gudmundsson in the second half.

Genoa secured a victory against Lecce, making significant progress towards safety. The match concluded with a score of 2-1 in favor of the home team, thanks to two goals from Miretti and a penalty kick converted by Krstovic. With this win, Genoa climbs to 35 points, sitting in 12th place, and Vieira’s squad heads into the break with a comfortable 13-point cushion above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Lecce stays in 16th place, only two points clear of third-from-bottom Empoli.

Hellas Verona win the Derby del Triveneto.  Udinese remains steady at 40 points in the league standings, comfortably positioned in the safe zone. Hellas Verona made significant progress, now sitting at 29 points, which gives them a seven-point cushion over third-from-bottom Empoli.  Verona secured a crucial win in Udine, thanks to a stunning free kick from Duda that clinched the match, which had been closely contested until that moment. Earlier, Udinese posed threats with players like Ehizibue, Atta, and Lovric, while Kastanos nearly extended the visitors’ lead just before halftime.

Torino claims three points after a difficult encounter. Empoli begins the match with more flair, outshining the home team in the first half. As the second half unfolds, Vanoli’s team becomes more cohesive and determined, scoring the decisive goal through Nikola Vlasic’s right-footed shot from the edge of the box with just twenty minutes remaining. Despite their final push, the Tuscans fail to score and find themselves third from the bottom in the standings.  Torino 1 – 0 Empoli.

Monza and Parma ended with a 1-1 at the U-Power Stadium.  The draw benefits Parma more than Monza, as both teams earn an additional point in the standings.   Currently, Monza sitting at the bottom of the table with just 15 points.  Meanwhile, Parma reached 25 points.   Monza kicked off strongly, breaking the deadlock in the 60th minute with a corner kick that Izzo converted with a precise tap-in following a setup from D’Ambrosio.  For about twenty minutes, the pace was relentless, but then Parma shifted gears. With fresh players on the field, they found the equalizer; Bonny scored in the 84th minute with a brilliant double dribble followed by a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar.

Monza and Parma ended their Serie A Week 29 with a draw on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. Monza dominated the first half, which ended without any goals.  Parma stepped up their game in the second half. Monza kicked off strongly, breaking the deadlock in the 60th minute with a corner kick that Izzo converted with a precise tap-in following a setup from D’Ambrosio.

For about twenty minutes, the pace was relentless, but then Parma shifted gears. With fresh players on the field, they found the equalizer.  Bonny scored in the 84th minute with a brilliant double dribble followed by a shot that hit the underside of the crossbar. The final moments of the match were intense. Parma pushing for a second goal through Ondrejka, but Turati remained composed and made the save. This thrilling battle for survival concluded in the 94th minute.

Next up, Nesta and Chivu’s teams will face off in their upcoming matches, with one traveling to Cagliari and the other hosting Verona.

Monza gained the upper hand in the 59th minute when Armando Izzo found the back of the net with a powerful right-footed shot aimed at the top center. The goal was set up by Danilo D’Ambrosio.  He capitalized on a corner kick awarded after Enrico Delprato’s foul. This crucial goal puts the Brianza team ahead, originating from a corner taken by Castrovilli, which D’Ambrosio cleverly redirected to his captain, allowing him to score past goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

In the 84th minute, Parma leveled the score at 1-1 thanks to a stunning goal.   Ange-Yoan Bonny, who struck with his right foot into the top right corner. The assist came from Mandela Keita. Bonny, a substitute, showcased his skills with a brilliant individual effort. After receiving the ball from Keita, he maneuvered past two defenders, surged forward, then cut back onto his right foot to curl the ball into the far post. A fantastic finish from the Ducal striker, bringing the match to parity for Monza.

✅ Stats before the game:

Parma secured a victory in the first leg of this championship against Monza. The last time the dukes achieved wins in their opening two Serie A matches against the same opponent was back in the 2013/14 season against Sassuolo.

Monza has struggled against Parma, failing to win any of their last seven encounters across Serie A and Serie B, with five draws and two losses. The last time the Brianza team triumphed over the dukes in these competitions was on March 24, 1985, when they won 3-0 at home in the cadetteria. When it comes to home matches, Parma is the team Monza has faced the most without suffering a defeat in either Serie A or B, boasting 10 wins and six draws in 16 meetings. The only draw in the 2000s occurred on March 2, 2022, ending in a 1-1 tie in the cadetteria.

Although Monza has struggled to find the net in three home league matches, they have managed to avoid defeat in two of their last four Serie A home games (1 win, 1 draw), following a streak of five consecutive losses.

In the current Serie A season, only Venezia (six points) and Monza (seven points) have earned fewer away points than Parma, who have accumulated eight. Notably, Parma has suffered losses in their last four away matches and hasn’t experienced a longer losing streak on the road in a single season since April to May 2021, when they lost five in a row. Since December, Monza has faced defeat in 12 out of 14 Serie A matches. During this same timeframe, only Southampton (with 13 losses) has recorded more defeats among the top five European leagues, while Leicester has also lost 12 times.

After trailing at halftime, Chivu brought Pellegrino into the match, and the Argentine scored his first Serie A goal in the 60th minute. The setup came from Cesare Casadei, who made a great run through the middle before delivering the ball to Elmas at the edge of the box. The Macedonian skillfully controlled it with his right foot and placed it perfectly into the opposite corner. This marks his third goal in the last four matches. Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki was unable to stop it.

Parma brought the score to 1-1 in the 60th minute when Mateo Pellegrino found the back of the net with a left-footed shot aimed at the bottom right corner. Emanuele Valeri set him up with a low cross from the left side, and Pellegrino made no hesitation in finishing it off.
