AC Milan caused an upset to former owner Silvio Berlusconi. Milan won the Serie A Week 23 game defeating Monza on Saturday 18 February 2023 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. AC Milan have won two consecutive league games for the first time since the season resumed after the World Cup break. Milan continuing their positive road following their first Champions League quarterfinal for 11 years after defeating Tottenham with a 1-0.
Milan reaches 44 points while Monza remains in mid-table with 29 points. Hard-fought victory for Milan thanks to the goal by Junior Messias in the 31st minute. Monza fought and tried to find an equalizer, also hitting the post with Ciurria, but it was the Rossoneri who came closest first with Theo Hernandez and then with Sandro Tonali, but it was Di Gregorio who denied the goal.

✅ Stats before the game. After losing their first two matches against teams from Lombardy in Serie A (v Atalanta and Milan between September and October 2022), Monza remained unbeaten against teams from their own region in 2023 in the league (draw against Inter and win against Cremona). Monza are the team with the longest unbeaten streak in Serie A this season (eight: W4, D4). In addition, since the arrival of Raffaele Palladino (since 13 September) the Brianza players have earned 28 points in 16 games (W8, D4, L4), only Napoli (45), Juventus (34) and Inter (32) have done better in the period in Serie A (one more than Milan, 27). After losing their first three Serie A home games under Giovanni Stroppa, Monza went unbeaten in seven of Raffaele Palladino’s next eight in charge at the U-Power Stadium (W4, D3), drawing all of the last three. After the 1-0 success against Turin, Milan could record two clean sheets in a row in the league for the first time since last August (v Bologna and Sassuolo in that case).
