Monza achieved a prestigious victory defeating Italy’s Champions in the Serie A Week 35 game on Sunday 14 May 2023 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy. Napoli suffered a fourth defeat in the league returning to lose more than a month after the home defeat against Milan for 0-4. Now Spalletti’s team can no longer be defeated if they want to reach at least 90 points. Monza got the seventh consecutive useful result and continues the run-up to eighth place, remaining level on points with Fiorentina and Torino, waiting for Bologna, which by winning against Roma would reach the group at 49.

✅ Stats before the game: Monza have won only one of their last seven league games against Napoli (D3 L3), 2-1 in Serie B on 30 May 1999, with goals from Mario Lemme and Massimo Oddo (Francesco Turrini for the Neapolitans). Napoli are unbeaten away to Monza in the league thanks to two wins and three draws, all in Serie B – the most recent being a 0-0 draw on 5 September 1999. Monza are looking for their first point against opponents in the top three of the table at the start of the day in Serie A – currently five out of five knockouts, with only one goal scored (against Milan on 22 October) and 13 conceded (2.6 in average per game). Napoli have won 14 of their 17 away games this season (D2 L1) and can become the third team in Serie A history to collect at least 15 away wins in a single season, after Inter in 2006/07 (15 ) and Milan 2020/21 (16). In the last 10 Serie A matches, Monza have lost only once (0-2 vs Lazio, 2 April 2023): in the period (from the beginning of March), no team has done better than the Brianza (only one defeat also for Salernitana). Napoli have won 26 matches in this league so far (no team has done better in the big five tournaments 2022/23): in their entire history in Serie A they have only done better in the 2017/18 season (28).
Lineup Monza (3-4-1-2): Di Gregorio; Izzo, Marlon, Caldirola; Ciurria, Rovella, Pessina, Carlos Augusto; Caprari; Mota, Petagna.
Lineup Napoli (4-3-3): Gollini; Bereszynski, Rrahmani, Juan Jesus, Olivera; Anguissa, Lobotka, Zielinski; Elmas, Osimhen, Zerbin.
