Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 1st position with 48 points and a positive goal difference of +35
Monza, 11th position with 25 points and a negative goal difference of -1

Inter won the Serie A Week 20 game on Saturday 13 January 2024 at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, Italy.  Inter are in the 1st position with 51 points followed by Juventus in the 2nd place.  Inter ended the first round of this championship with a goal difference of +35 goals (44 scored and nine conceded); considering the first 19 matches played in a major tournament, only three teams have recorded a better difference between goals scored and conceded in the history of Serie A: Juventus +36 and +40, in 1959/60 and 1950/51 respectively, +45 Fiorentina in 1958/59 and +42 Torino in 1947/48.

Inter opened the score in the 12th minute. Hakan Çalhanoglu gave the lead to Inter after converting a penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The penalty was conceded by Roberto Gagliardini following a hand ball.

✅   Stats before the game: After failing to find success in the two matches of the last championship (1D, 1L), Inter won the first leg against Monza: 2-0, with a brace from Lautaro Martínez, on the first day of this tournament. Monza have never won in the five home games played against Inter in all competitions, always conceding at least one goal in the partial (nine in total): of these, one match was played in Serie A (in January 2023) and four in the Italian Cup (between 1958 and 1990). Inter became the sole winter champion of Serie A for the 18th time in their history; on 10 of the previous 17 occasions (including four of the last five), the Nerazzurri went on to win the Scudetto at the end of the season.
Inter ended the first round with 48 points in the standings, the result of 15 wins and three draws (1P); in the era of three points for a win (since 1994/95), only twice had the Nerazzurri collected more after the first 19 games played in a single Serie A tournament: 51 in 2006/07 and 49 in 2007/08. After six useful results in a row against U-Power (W2, D4), Monza have lost two of their last three Serie A home games (W1): as many home defeats as those collected by the Brianza team in the previous 13 in front of their fans.

👉 Lineup MONZA (3-4-2-1):  Sorrentino; D’Ambrosio, Gagliardini, Caldirola; Pereira, Pessina, Bondo, Ciurria; Colpani, Carboni; Mota.

👉 Lineup INTER (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro.
