✅  Spain won the UEFA EURO 2024 on Monday 24 June 2024 defeating Albania at the Düsseldorf Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany. Spain already qualified to the Round of 16 and claim all full 9 points leading Group B.  Italy got a late equalizer goal in the 98th minute against Croatia reaching 4 points and qualifying as second of the Group. Spain took the advantage with Ferran Torres and then fails some potential occasions with Torres himself and with Olmo. In the second half Albania builds some dangerous situations with Broja but in the end to celebrate Spain which, despite the turnover, gets clean Sheet and the three points.

Spain have won all eight previous matches against Albania (31 goals scored, 3 conceded). Among the national teams against which Spain has always found success, against no other has it boasted more matches – eight wins out of eight also against Liechtenstein and Malta.

The UEFA EURO 2024 Group B Standing shows Spain in the 1st position with 9 points and a positive goal difference of +5.  Italy in the 2nd position with 4 points and a goal difference of “0”. ✅  Stats before the game: Albania have conceded at least two goals in each of their nine meetings with Spain in all competitions. The 9-0 defeat in the European Championship qualifiers in December 1990 remains the largest ever for the Albanian national team in an official match. No nation has ever scored the first goal in three consecutive European Championship matches without managing to win any of them.
Spain could win the first three matches of a European Championship for the second time in the competition, having done so in 2008 – an edition which they then won (1-0 against Germany in the final). Albania have conceded two goals in each of their last two matches, both at EURO 2024 (1-2 v Italy, 2-2 v Croatia), after having conceded two or more goals only once in their previous 14 matches in all competitions. The Albanians have not conceded at least two goals in three consecutive matches since a series of five between October 2016 and June 2017. In the last match against Italy, Spain gained possession of the ball in the final third of the field on 10 occasions: it is the highest figure for the Spaniards in a European Championship match since the 2008 quarter-finals, again against the Azzurri (13).

The Rossoblù derby at the Ferraris with Genoa and Bologna finished their respective seasons in the best possible way, positive for both. Genoa have achieved a quiet salvation as newly promoted players, while Motta’s men have achieved a sensational objective with qualification for the next Champions League. Gilardino’s first season as Serie A coach ends with Ferraris’ applause, leading his team to 49 points. Smiles also for Thiago Motta who, despite today’s defeat, was celebrated and greeted warmly by his players in the center of the pitch before his final farewell.

AC Milan kept the 2nd position despite their draw against Salernitan in San Siro. Salernitana are already relegated to the Serie B.  The match’s highlights included the farewell of Coach Stefano Pioli and French forward Olivier Giroud, who stops at 99 goals and does not reach triple figures. Simon Kjaer also played his last game with the Rossoneri, Antonio Mirante, and Mattia Caldaraare all departing.  Salernitana ruined the party for Pioli and Giroud finding an equalizer in the final minutes with goals from Sambia and Simy, after the Devil had taken the lead 3-1 thanks to goals of Leao, Giruoud and Calabria.

Juventus returned to victory in the league after six consecutive draws, cleared Bologna and rose to third place in the standings with 71 points, but will have to wait for Atalanta’s two matches to find out if this will be their final position. Monza, on the other hand, ended their season with a streak of nine games without success, but also with 45 points and the certainty of twelfth place in the standings.

Napoli had a bad season and failed to defend their title.  Napoli ended the last game of the season against Lecce with a goalless draw on Sunday 26 May 2024 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy. AS Roma survived the pressure and defeated Genoa.  Three golden points take Roma to the Europa League qualification and still leave a small hope for the Champions League, but a lot will depend on the fate of Atalanta.  Mathematically speaking, with this result, Roma can no longer be reached by Lazio, by virtue of the direct matches in their favor.   Roma beat Genoa 1-0 thanks to the goal by Romelu Lukaku.

The bad news is for AC Milan beaten by Torino with a 3-1.  Yet, despite the defeat, Milan remain in the 2nd position.  The good news is for Torino overtaking Napoli, who are now in tenth place in the table. With this victory, Torino climbed to ninth place and keeps alive the hope of qualifying for the next Conference League.

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2023-2024 Italian Serie A Week 36 RESULTS / Thirty-sixth Round on Friday 10, Saturday 11, Sunday 12, and Monday 13 May 2024.

Inter won the 2023-2024 Italy’s Champions winning the Scudetto last week after defeating AC Milan in the Milan Derby.   Inter’s 20th Italian league title and earn the Nerazzurri a second star on their shirts.

Frosinone was crushed and humiliated.    Inter recovered after losing last week against Sassuolo.  Frosinone remains just two points ahead of the relegation zone, awaiting the matches of their direct competitors. Di Francesco’s team will play for salvation in the last two matches against Monza and Udinese.   Inter reached 92 points.

AC Milan crushed Cagliari with a 5-1 in San Siro.   This is a delicate moment for Milan despite the arithmetic placement in the Champions League having already arrived a few weeks ago.   Even today the fans did not support the team as a sign of protest asking for investments for the near future. One of the banners displayed read: “We demand and deserve a strong and winning club Anything but a trivial match for Cagliari failed to find oxygen to save themselves. The rossoblù are floating in 15th place with 33 points, only 3 more than Udinese who are currently the team to take as a reference for the relegation zone.

One of the upsets is Napoli losing the home game against Bologna. It is the eighth consecutive useful result for Bologna, who are ever closer to qualifying for the Champions League, which would be mathematical if Roma were unable to beat Atalanta. However, Napoli’s negative period continues, as they suffer their second defeat in the last four games and risk being overtaken in the standings by Fiorentina, a point behind but with two games less.

The good news is also for Udinese because after defeating Lecce they abandoned the relegation zone. Udinese climbed from the 18th to the 15th position with 33 points.  The bad news here is for Empoli because they lost the game with Lazio and went down to the relegation zone in the 18th position.
