Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 5 Results / Fifth Round on Saturday 3, Sunday 4, and Monday 5 September 2022. The awaited Milan Derby is won by AC Milan claiming the full bragging rights to rule in Milan beating Inter 3-2. The biggest upset is Roma not only losing against Udinese, but also losing the 1st position going down to the 5th position. The sole leader is Atalanta with 13 points.
✅ 10 Serie A Games Completed
⚽️ Serie A Top Scorer up to Week 5 (Updated on Monday 5 September 2022)
We have new leaders! ⚫️🔵 Atalanta takes the first place alone in the standings with 13 points after defeating Monza at the U-Power Stadium. Rasmus Höjlund’s first Italian goal and Monza defender Marlon’s own goal caused by Lookman’s tap-in, to take home the three points. A total flop for Monza remaining with 0 points.
The Milan Derby is all Red and Black 🔴⚫️. Milan defeated Inter in San Siro Stadium. Rightfully, AC Milan claimed the bragging rights to rule in Milan. It’s a tough defeat for Inter because they also lost the 3rd position. It was just a spectacular Derby di Milano, full of emotions. Inter took the lead with Marcelo Brozovic. Rafael Leão scores an equalizer in the 28th minute. In the second half, Olivier Giroud goal in the 54th minute, Leão scored twice with a personal action, Edin Džeko shortened the gap. A brilliant goalkeeper Mike Maignan saves the result, miraculous on the ex-Milan player Calhanoglu. In the next round, AC Milan will play the away game against Sampdoria, Inter will play at home against Torino.
Torino defeated Lecce at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium. Third consecutive goal for the former West Ham player Nikola Vlašić scoring the only goal. Torino reached 10 points and climbed from the 9th to the 4th position being -3 from the leaders Atalanta with 13. Lecce remains at 2, still lacking in victories in the Serie A since their promotion from Serie B.
Udinese crushed AS Roma at the Dacia Arena. Udinese with a poker while Roma seemed to just wave the goals. Udogie breaks the deadlock in the 5th minute. In the second half, Lazar Samardzic doubles in the 56th minute, Roberto Pereyra’s trio in the 75th minute, Lovric also scored for the final smack. Udinese reached 10 points in the standings. José Mourinho’s Giallorossi are returning from a 3-0 home match against Monza, a match in which Paulo Dybala scored his first goals with Lupa in official matches and reached 100 in Serie A. This defeat is a slap for Roma ahead of their debut in the Europa League scheduled for Thursday in Razgrad, Bulgaria, against Ludogorets. In the next round, Udinese will play the away game against Sassuolo while Roma will play at home against Empoli.
Fiorentina, despite dominating, failed to win against Juventus at the Artemio Franchi Stadium. The match was decided by the goals scored in the first half by Arkadiusz Milik and Christian Kouamé. In the second half, it is Fiorentina with the chance to win the game, despite Luka Jovic’s missed penalty at the end of the first half. In the next round, Juventus will play at home against Salernitana while Fiorentina will play away against Bologna.
Napoli defeated Lazio at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome. Lazio took an early lead with Mattia Zaccagni in the 4th minute while Napoli overturned the result claiming the victory. For the moment, Napoli and AC Milan share 11 points each waiting for the games of Atalanta and Roma. A slap for Lazio and not a good feeling ahead of the UEFA Europa League game on Thursday 8 September against Feyenoord. On the contrary, Napoli with a boost to the morale ahead of the Champions League game on Wednesday 7 September against Liverpool.
Cremonese and Sassuolo ended with a goalless draw at the Giovanni Zini Stadium. Cremonese wins the first point in Serie A, while Sassuolo reaches six points in the standings. Dessers and teammates, despite some good performances, finally move the ranking after taking four defeats in as many rounds: Fiorentina (3-2), Rome (1-0), Turin (2-1) and Inter (3-1) ). Sassuolo, on the other hand, after the debut defeat against Juve (3-0) beat Lecce before the draws against Spezia (2-2) and Milan (0-0). Cremonese and Sassuolo facing for their first time in their history in the Serie A championship, as have their coaches Alvini and Dionisi.
Spezia and Bologna ended with a 2-2 draw at the Alberto Picco Stadium. Bologna are unbeaten in four Serie A previous matches against Spezia, thanks to a draw followed by three wins – considering the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, the Ligurian one is one of the three teams against which the Emilians have played four games without never lose (like Udinese and Sampdoria).
Hellas Verona win their first game this season winning the Serie A Week 5 against Sampdoria at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium. It’s a moment to celebrate for Verona because they also moved away from the relegation zone climbing from the 18th to the 13th position. The match is decided in the last five minutes of the first half: to the splendid goal scored by Caputo in the 40th minute, the hosts responded with a deadly one-two signed by the innocent Audero scoring an own goal and by the seal of Doig almost at the end. In the next round, Sampdoria will play at home against AC Milan while Verona will be playing the away game against Lazio.
