Italian Soccer Serie A

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 29 RESULTS / Twenty-ninth Round on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 April 2023.  Napoli remain the sole leaders with 74 points.

Inter have gone 6 matches in a row without winning (D3, L3): this is Inter’s worst streak since February 2018 (streak of 10 in that case).

Salernitana have recorded five consecutive draws for the first time in Serie A and are also unbeaten in six league matches and have only done better once in the top flight (seven between April and May 2022).

For the first time in their history Napoli have won seven away games in a row in a single Serie A tournament.

Federico Di Francesco’s goal ended Lecce’s 518-minute hunger strike: Alex Blin’s last goal in Serie A TIM was scored against Atalanta last February.

Milan only conceded two shots against Empoli; since 2004/05, only once have the Rossoneri done better in a Serie A match (zero shots allowed against Chievo in April 2005).

Empoli kept a clean sheet against Milan in Serie A for the first time since 21 October 2007 (1-0 in favor of the Tuscans at the Meazza).

Beto is the first Udinese player to score double figures in two consecutive seasons in Serie A TIM since Cyril Théréau, in the three-year period between 2014/15 and 2016/17.

Rovella is Monza’s tenth Italian scorer in this championship: the Brianza team is the formation that has the most Italians with at least one goal so far, at least two more than any other team.

Cremonese won their first away match in this Serie A TIM; the previous success away from home in the top flight came on 31 March 1996 against Padova (1-2 with Luigi Simoni on the bench).

Cremonese had not scored at least three away goals in Serie A since April 1994 (3-3 v Udinese).

Serie A Standing AFTER the game:
Juventus, 7th position with 44 points and a positive goal difference of +24
Lazio, 2nd position with 55 points and a positive goal difference of +25

Lazio crushed Juventus’ hope to climb the standings. Lazio won the Serie A Week 29 game on Saturday 8 April 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. Lazio beat Juventus 2-1 and consolidated second place in the standings. Milinkovic-Savic breaks the deadlock in the 38th minute, equalized by Adrien Rabiot in the 42nd minute. In the second half, the decisive goal by Mattia Zaccagni in the 53rd minute after a back-heel assist by Luis Alberto. Third consecutive victory for the Biancocelesti.

In the next round, Juventus will face Sassuolo away from home while Lazio will face Spezia at the Alberto Picco Stadium.

Lazio opened the score in the 38th minute. Sergej Milinković-Savić defeated Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Mattia Zaccagni.

Adrien Rabiot equalized for Juventus in the 42nd minute from very close range with a headed shot to the center following a corner conceded by Mattia Zaccagni.

The winner goal is scored by Mattia Zaccagni in the 53rd minute with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Luis Alberto.

✅ Stats before the game: Lazio have picked up just two points in the last six games played against Juventus in Serie A (D2, L4) and have conceded at least two goals five times in this partial; the last biancoceleste success in the league with the bianconeri dates back to the 3-1 draw on 7 December 2019 (Luiz Felipe, Milinkovic-Savic, Caicedo and Ronaldo were the scorers, Sarri was on the Piedmontese bench). Juventus have won the two seasonal matches against Lazio (3-0 in the league, 1-0 in the Italian Cup) and have not beaten the Biancocelesti at least three times in the same year since 2016/17, always with Allegri on the bench (in that case without conceding a goal). Lazio have won only one of their last 17 Serie A home games against Juventus (3-1 on 7 December 2019): four draws and 12 defeats in this partial; in nine of the last 13 matches at the Olimpico against the bianconeri in the league, the biancocelesti have also missed the appointment with the goal. Lazio have collected six consecutive clean sheets in the league and could equal their historic record in Serie A: seven games in a row without conceding a goal between February and March 1998 with Sven-Göran Eriksson on the bench.
