Gigi Buffon put Juventus’ aggregate win over Barcelona into perspective after the match.

“It was a clear and comprehensive win against the team that I still believe are the world’s best side,” said the captain.

“It was the fair result and we deserve credit because we’ve got greater belief and character. We’re becoming more at home on the European stage and we don’t simply defend – we attack the opposition and keep the ball too.

“Knocking out Barcelona gives us additional belief that we might not have got against different opposition.

“This process began a few years ago and it continues to evolve. That’s what we work towards. We believe we still have room for improvement.

“Our fate is in our own hands. As for whether we can win the competition, that also comes down to luck and the opposition. I’ll take anyone in the semi-finals,” concluded Buffon.
