Italy Under-19s progress to the elite round of the European Championship. Baronio: “This squad has great character”

Baronio was delighted after the game, although not just because of the result: “Today the lads put in their best performance from all three qualifying games,” said the coach. “I must pay compliment them on how they performed; they paid attention to their tactics for the entire game. I saw a team that was aware of their strengths, playing extremely well and also showing great character. Their development is clear by obtaining first spot in a tough group.

The squad will return to Italy tomorrow, although they will now have to wait until the 13th November for the draw to be made in Nyon. They will then discover who will be their opponents in the final phase of the Under-19 European Championship. Italy-Switzerland 1-1
