Great start!   Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini making his debut with the Italian team with a victory.  The “Mancini Era” starting with a ray of hope for the rebuilding of the Italian team.   It is also the new era for Captain Leonardo Bonucci leading the squad after the retirement of Gianluigi Buffon.

GOALLLLLLL Italy taking the lead in the 20th minute. Forward Mario Balotelli making his comeback with the Azzurri scoring this goal!   Balotelli defeating Saudi Arbia goalkeeper Mohammed Alowais with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.

Italy increasing the score in the 68th minute. Forward Andrea Belotti delighting the fans after defeating goalkeeper from close range  with a right footed shot in the center following a corner conceded by Osama Hawsawi.

Oh oh spaghetti oh!!!! Saudi Arabia shortening the distance in the 72nd minute following a fast break!!! Saudi Arabia Yahya Al Shehri defeating Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner. The assist is by Salem Al Dawsari.

We are set for the “rebuilding of the Italian National Team” after Italy failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.   New Italy Head Coach Roberto Mancini called up 30 players for three friendlies against Saudi Arabia, France, and Netherlands.

Players will meet on Wednesday 23 May at the Technical Center of Coverciano.   Surely, players will have 2 days off after the Serie A ended on Sunday 20 May.   As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), among the news, we have five players getting their first call-ups:   Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri Dos Santos, Torino’s Daniele Baselli (who took part in a training camp under Cesare Prandelli), Crotone’s Rolando Mandragora (called up in 2017 for a training camp for emerging talents), Sassuolo forward Domencio Berardi (called up by Conte for Euro 2016 qualifiers but forced to leave through injury) and Atalanta’s Mattia Caldara who also featured in a camp.

Hello, hello, hello.  There is a comeback in the group, Nice striker Mario Balotelli.   Last time Balotelli  was called up by former Coach Antonio Conte in November 2014 for the qualifier against Croatia.  Balotelli could not participate and had to leave because of injury.   Let’s see whether Balotelli can make a difference this time.
