Good morning my friends!     I hope you are having a good day and ready for the Serie A games.  Headlines today are a bit tense…. BAM!   Imagine, I don’t even know what to think about the declarations of forward Mario Balotelli criticizing ex Italian Head Coach Cesare Prandelli calling him “not a real man.”    According to Balotelli, Prandelli does not tell you things to your face… oh well….  Is it right for Balotelli to take this position?

A headline making me happy is the one about the good moment of Torino forward Fabio Quagliarella!  I agree with Pulici and look forward to see Qua Qua Qua  Quagliarella rocking and scoring more goals.

As for AC Milan headlines… oh well, we are still dealing with the ongoing rebuilding “wishful thinking” to see them back to the top.  Silvio and Barbara Berlusconi looking for ways to achieve their goal.   For the moment, the hope is forward Fernando Torres to become the inspirational motor…. by the way, Torres seeing Super Pippo Inzaghi as a model.

Erick Thohir speaks to the BBC

< ![CDATA[

Here on inter.it we publish a second excerpt from the interview given by Inter president Erick Thohir for the BBC World Service’s weekly podcast World Football.

What’s your first year in Italy been like? What were your feelings when you took over Inter?
“Since the 1990s I’ve always been a fan of Inter and Serie A. When the Inter opportunity came up it was almost unimmaginable. Inter are a big club who have won lots of trophies and now want to get back to winning again. But for that to happen you need to find a balance between the sports and the business. If you look back and think that Bale was bought for close to 100 million. That’s impossible now. Italy used to be the number one league, but it’s not anymore. We need to do something and Inter need to do something to compete. But of course it’s not easy when you bring something new to Italy. You also need to try to understand the culture there. The last three or four months were important to help me understand Italian culture and passion and the people there. But at the same time we want to move on with the agenda we have because our target is to get back to being one of the top ten clubs in the world.”

Do you mean top ten in terms of businesses or top ten in terms of winning matches?
“If we have a good business model, we can build a good team. It’s a challenge for us to get back to the top. In Italy we need to be back among the top three.”

Let’s talk about Carlo Tavecchio, a controversial character who has been punished by UEFA for his comments. Did Inter vote for him?
“I respect what UEFA do but yes, Inter and other clubs in Serie A voted for him. There has been lots of discussion about Italy having to rebuild and when you have to do that sometimes nationalism can be very important. It’s strange for me as a foreigner to say that but I understand it, because many countries in the world when they want to do something better for the country they talk about nationalism. Take the Italian national team: I think calling Antonio Conte as coach was a great decision. There’s also an issue about the fact that Italian players need to play in Serie A because it’s important for the national team. There are similar discussions in England. They say ‘Why don’t we reduce the number of foreigners playing in the Premier League?’ Whether Tavecchio is the right person to change Italian football is something we’ll only know further down the line. It’s the same thing in politics: when you choose a president there’s no guarantee. We’ll see.”

But you think he is the right person?
“It’s not so much about the person but the agenda proposed. For example, he proposed that Serie A should have 18 teams, not 20. We share that view. For me it comes down to having trust in the agenda and the strategy.”

Inter Forever go south

< ![CDATA[

WUHAN – Inter Forever set off from Xi’an early this morning. The second city they are taking in on their #ChinaTour2014 is situated several thousand miles to the south, amidst the rice fields of Hubei province where the Yangtze and Han rivers meet. And when they arrived, central China’s most populous city duly afforded the Nerazzurri an incredible welcome.

Immediately after lunch, Javier Zanetti, Luis Figo, Youri Djorkaeff and Francesco Toldo spoke to the media. A throng of local journalists awaited them on the fourth floor of a centrally based skyscraper otherwise known as Wuhan Jin Jiang International Hotel.

The press conference began with the news that a crowd of at least 30,000 is expected at Wuhan Sports Centre for Sunday’s match. That’s how many tickets have been snapped up so far, but it’s quite possible the event will be a sellout. Anticipation is high and the city is licking its lips at the prospect of seeing some of the stars who have written Inter’s history.

Among those is Zanetti, who thanked the organisers for offering him the opportunity to experience first hand Chinese fans’ passion for the colours he spent almost an entire career wearing.

Djorkaeff reaffirmed the importance of projects like Inter Forever, which are good for the game and allow former players to become world ambassadors for the sport.

Figo then commented on Inter’s role in world football and the club’s tradition and prestige, both in the past and through to the present day.

Finally, Inter Forever ‘coach’ Francesco Toldo threw down the gauntlet to his opposite number, who was among those who crammed into the packed press room. With a smile, he told his Chinese counterpart: “We’re going to get serious on the 19th, not like in Xi’an [where Inter won 6-1].”

After the conference the lads were hosted on local network Wuhan TV – an informal chat with a few smiles and laughs, and another chance to discuss all things Inter.

So after what we could call a transition day, Inter Forever are into the second leg of their tour. Following Xi’an, it’s now Wuhan’s turn to savour them in all their glory.
