MILAN – Stats, facts and pre-match comments as we edge ever closer to Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina. Over 73.000 tickets have already been sold and a sell-out crowd is expected come kick-off. Over 250 accredited journalists will be at the San Siro, 50 of which from abroad. The match will also be broadcast in over 200 countries with 10 TV broadcasters, 8 of which from abroad, at the stadium. 60 photographers will also be pitch-side looking to snap some derby day moments.
PRECEDENTS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL: The last derby to be played in April with Inter as the home side was on the 12th of April 2003: Inter-Milan 0-1 (Filippo Inzaghi). Here are the previous other derbies from recent years to be played in April with Inter as the home side:
There have been two periods when Milan have dominated the derby when Inter have been the home side: April 1997 to December 2005. Nearly nine years when the Rossoneri were unbeaten, recording six consecutive wins: 1999, Inter-Milan 1-2; 2001, Inter-Milan 0-6; 2001, Inter-Milan 2-4; 2003, Inter-Milan 0-1; 2003, Inter-Milan 1-3; 2005, Inter-Milan 0-1.
Here are the other derby experiences the Milan players have enjoyed over their careers.
MADRID DERBY: Diego Lopez and Christian Abbiati.
LONDON DERBIES: Alex and Essien.
BUENOS AIRES DERBY: Paletta.
MANCHESTER DERBY: De Jong.
ROME DERBY: Destro, Mexes and Menez.
GENOA DERBY: Antonelli, Pazzini and Poli.
TURIN DERBY: Abate and Cerci.
VERONA DERBY: Albertazzi.
STATEMENTS:
ADRIANO GALLIANI: “The Milan derbies are always very fair, we’re the most evolved city in Italy from this point of view.”
STEPHAN EL SHAARAWY: “The derby is always a match that everyone feels. It is always a special match and we will do all we can to get the three points and the victory that goes with it.”
GARY MEDEL: “I’ve played in one of the most felt derbies in the world with the Boca jersey, so I know what it means. Milan are strong and have had an inconsistent season, like us. We respect them, but we don’t fear anyone.”
GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI: “The derby? When I was first in the league table, I used to lose. When I was mid-table I used to win it. The team that has the least amount of fear to lose will prevail.”
ADIL RAMI: “The first thing that the fans ask of us is to win the derby. It’s an important match, we have to win every match but this one even more so. We have collected 7 points from a possible 9 and we’re improving. In a derby it isn’t the best side that wins, but the one that has the biggest desire and heart.”
DANILO GALLINARI: “It’s going to be a tough derby, tense, we absolutely have to win. My Milan are in good form, Inter seem to be so-so, even if they won convincingly the last match. We have to take the chance.”
ANDREA RANOCCHIA: “The best derby? This Sunday’s. The captain’s armband is a nice responsibility.”
TEAM NEWS: Milan have welcomed back Keisuke Honda to full training. Inter meanwhile have lost Campagnaro to injury and will also be without the suspended duo of Brozovic and Guarin.
Good morning my friends. Here are the front pages from Italy main Sports newspapers La Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, and Tutto Sport from Saturday 18 April 2015.
What a day! Loving the headlines on the upcoming Milan Derby and I agree that Inter and Milan are hungry to get points. It will be a duel for Shaqiri and Honda who wants goal.. and you bet they will look to deliver the winner goal. Your take?
Headlines on transfer market are causing a real boom! It seems Juventus might choose to sign either Edison Cavani or Dybala… or even getting both!!!! My gosh… can you imagine if Juventus sign Cavani? Surely, Cavani have more experience and proved already to be a key player … what a lethal duo if Cavani plays along Carlos Tevez… BAM!
Headline on the big match today! The duel between the first position and second position of the Serie A Table. Juventus vs Lazio… also a preamble of the upcoming Coppa Italia Final. Tevez vs Klose.. wowwwwww I am ready for the match.. are you?

Good morning my friends. Here are the front pages from Italy main Sports newspapers La Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, and Tutto Sport from Friday 17 April 2015.
What a beautiful morning! Oh my gosh, I am so happy, feeling great! I woke up and prepared a Double Espresso shot to enjoy while checking the newspapers. I love the front pages from La Gazetta and Corriere showing big photos of midfielder Marek Hamsik! You bet I agree with the headlines that Napoli crushed Wolfsburg and are now closer to make it to the Semifinal. Wait guys, time to stand up and do some cheerleading for Napoli… the final result was a 1-4!!!!
I am also happy with the headline that is a golden draw for Fiorentina who were down to a 0-1 in Ukraine against Dynamo Kiev to claim a draw in the agonizing 92nd minute with the goal by Khouma Babacar.
Oh well, there is one sour headline… The FIGC punished Parma with 4 further points deduction for financial irregularities. Hello, this latest blow make it now almost impossible for Parma to remain in Serie A next season as they are now in the 20th position!!!
Pressure continuing for AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi on whether he would be sacked or not. Well, according to La Gazzetta headline, CEO Adriano Galliani stating that the team and the Club support Inzaghi.
