Italian Soccer Serie A

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2023-2024 Italian Serie A Serie A Week 10 RESULTS / Tenth Round on Friday 27, Saturday 28, Sunday 29, and Monday 30 October 2023.  The battle for the Scudetto is a three-way race.   Inter lead with 25 points after defeating AS Roma with a goal by Marcus Thuram.  Juventus with 23 points are in the 2nd position after defeating Hellas Verona.  AC Milan are in the 3rd position with 22 points after their 2-2 draw with Napoli.  We might say the draw is more a victory for Napoli and a failure for Milan because they were leading 2-0 at the Maradona until Napoli made a comeback to equalize for the 2-2.

The match with more goals this week was Cagliari 4 – 3 Frosinone.

Here are some facts from Opta Data.  Genoa are unbeaten at home against Salernitana after three meetings (W2, D1): Gilardino’s side have kept a clean sheet at home against this opponent for the first time in the competition.

Albert Gudmundsson has already scored the first goal of the match three times in this Serie A, no other player did it more.

Bologna haven’t lost in nine Serie A matches in a row (W3 D6) for the first time since the period between November 2008 and January 2009, under Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Sassuolo have scored the most goals from outside the box (6) in the Big-5 European leagues this season.

Alessandro Buongiorno has already scored two goals in seven appearances in this Serie A championship, one more than in his previous 70 appearances in the competition (one).

Lecce lost three games in a row against Torino in Serie A for the first time in their history in the competition.

Massimiliano Allegri is the second Juventus coach able to keep 100 home clean sheets with Juventus in all competitions after Giovanni Trapattoni (150).

Andrea Cambiaso’s goal (96.02) is the latest scored by Juventus defender in Serie A since 2004/05.

Cagliari are the first team in the Serie A history able of winning a match with a three-goal deficit at the 70th minute of play.

Only Jude Bellingham (June 2003) is younger than Matías Soulé (April 2003) among the players who have scored at least five goals in the big-5 European leagues this season.

Monza are one of only three teams still unbeaten (2W, 3D) in home matches in Serie A this season (along with Atalanta and Juventus).

Roberto Pereyra has reached 200 games started in Serie A today (164 of which with Udinese and the other 36 with Juventus jersey in the top-flight).

Inter have gained 25 points in the first 10 matchdays of this championship; only twice have the Nerazzurri started better in the era of three points for a win in Serie A (26 points in both 1997/98 and 2017/18).

Roma’s first shot in this match came in the 65th minute, since 2004/05 the Giallorossi had never waited so long for the first shot in a Serie A match.

Olivier Giroud has scored five goals for Milan against Napoli in all competitions, more than any other opponents.

Giacomo Raspadori’s goal is the first scored from a direct free kick in Serie A this season; the last of the competition was the Antonio Candreva’s goal with Salernitana against Udinese, on 27 May 2023.

Gianluca Scamacca is the first Italian Atalanta player who’ve been involved in at least three goals in the same Serie A match since Marco Borriello (three vs Roma on April 17, 2016).

Empoli lost a Serie A match played on Monday for the first time since September 2022 (1-2 vs. Roma), breaking a streak of seven straight matches without any loss on this particular day of the week.

Ciro Immobile has scored 10 of his last 24 Serie A goals by penalty, as many goals from the penalty spot as in the previous 46.

Fiorentina is the team against which Lazio have collected the most clean sheets in home matches in Serie A (34).

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Genoa, 15th position with 8 points and a negative goal difference of -4
Salernitana,  19th position with 4 points and a negative goal difference of -13

Salernitana crying out loud for salvation after losing the Serie A Week 10 game on Friday 27 October 2023 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy.  Salernitana are in the relegation zone with only 4 points.  The good news is that Genoa claimed all 3 points and climbed the Standings. Genoa beat Salernitana 1-0 and returned to victory after three rounds. The decisive goal is by Albert Gudmundsson. Two posts hit by Salernitana with Retegui and Badelj. Chance also for Dragusin and Sabelli. Dangerous guests with Mazzocchi and Dia. Bottom line, at the end, Salernitana failed to get at least an honor goal.

In the next round of the championship for Genoa away match at Cagliari, Salernitana will face Napoli at home.

Genoa opened the score in the 35th minute. Albert Gudmundsson defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Ruslan Malinovskyi.

Mexican teammates playing in opposite teams, but still united: Genoa defender Johan Vásquez and Salernitana goalkeeper Guillemo “Memo” Ochoa.

Stats before the game: Genoa have won only one of the last seven matches (3D, 3L) played against Salernitana between Serie A, B and C (including playoffs) – the 2-1 match, at home, in Serie C in June 2006 – after recording six successes in the eight previous matches (1N, 1L), all of which took place in the cadet tournament (six clean sheets out of eight in this partial). Considering the three professional championships (Serie A, B and C), Salernitana has achieved only three successes in 16 away games against Genoa (5N, 8P), with the Granata’s last away victory against the rossoblù coming in the tournament cadet, in April 2004 (1-2 in that case). Furthermore, again between Serie A, B and C, the Campania team have conceded goals in 13 games in a row at Grifone (27 in total, 2.1 on average per match) and have not kept a clean sheet since March 1953 (0-0 in B series). Genoa have lost their last two league games without scoring; the rossoblù could suffer three defeats in a row without finding a goal in Serie A for the first time since March 2018, with Davide Ballardini as coach. Salernitana have lost their last three away games in the championship without scoring and could suffer four consecutive away defeats, remaining without a goal for the third time in Serie A: after the period between September and November 1998 and December 1947 and January 1948 .

👉 Lineup Genoa (3-5-2): Martinez; Dragusin, Bani, Vasquez; Sabelli, Malinovskyi, Badelj, Frendrup, Martin; Gudmundsson, Retegui.

👉 Lineup Salernitana (3-4-2-1): Ochoa; Lovato, Gyomber, Pirola; Mazzocchi, Coulibaly, Maggiore, Bradaric; Cabral, Candreva; Dia
