Italian Soccer Serie A

Hello, my friends. Here are the 2019-2020 Serie A Week 18 RESULTS / Eighteenth Round on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January 2020. We are back to the Serie A after the break to celebrate Christmas and New Year. It’s a new decade and all 20 Serie A teams are energized fulled of motivation to change their performance.

The status quo in the Serie A leadership remains the same.  Inter and Juventus having 45 points each….   Juventus crushed Cagliari with a 4-0 with a superb performance by Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his first hat-trick in Serie A.    Napoli falling at the San Paolo Stadium defeated by Inter with a 1-3.  Inter keeping the first position for having a better goal difference average.

The good news is for Lazio returning after the break as winner of the Supercoppa Italiana defeating Juventus in Saudi Arabia on 22 December 2019.  Lazio starting 2020 with a victory defeating Brescia with a 2-1.  The two goals for Lazio scored by forward Ciro Immobile.

👉 Up to Serie A Week 18: There is a three-way race between Inter (45), Juventus (45), and Lazio (39)

⚽️ Serie A Top Scorer up to Week 18:
Lazio forward Ciro Immobile with 19 goals

Serie A tickets

Great debut for Genoa coach Davide Nicola starting his period and New Year 2020 with a victory.  Nicola replaced coach Thiago Motta . Genoa seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and the dream for salvation gaining momentum.  The victory helped Genoa climbed from the 20th to the 19th position reaching 14 points.  Genoa 2-1 Sassuolo.

Bad news is for SPAL losing their first home game of the 2020.  Hellas Verona winning the away game with a 0-2.  It is a tough defeat for SPAL because they stepped down from the 19th to the 20th position.  It’s an uphill race for salvation.  Superb news for Hellas Verona winning their 3rd away game in this first half of the season something not seen since last time during the 1984-8 Season.

A blow for AS Roma falling at the Olimpico!   Torino conquered the Olimpico thanks to the two goals by forward Andrea Belotti!  It is a nightmare for Roma and a joy for Torino to start the 2020 with this precious away victory.  AS Roma 0 – 2 Torino.

AC Milan still not finding the winning path and started this 2020 with a goalless draw at the San Siro Stadium against Sampdoria.  The awaited debut of forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, starting as  a sub in the 55th minute, was not enough to find the goals.

Bologna and Fiorentina sharing one point each after the 1-1 draw at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.

Atalanta crushing Parma with a mega goleada 5-0!  Atalanta rocking big time and set the tone for the 2020 looking for the best year!
