The big day arrived!  The Milan Derby seeing a fierce battle.  AC Milan claimed the bragging rights to rule in Milan after winning the Serie A Week 24 game “Derby della Madonnina” at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.  Inter took the lead, and then, AC Milan overturned the result under the leadership of Olivier Giroud scoring the 2 goals for the Rossoneri.  Inter’s last home defeat in Serie A dates back to October 2020 against AC Milan. Despite, the defeat, Inter keep the sole leadership with 53 points (and a pending game) while AC Milan remain in the 3rd position with 52 points (same as Napoli).  For the Rossoneri, it’s the first time to win a Milan Derby in Serie A coming from behind since February 2004.  Giroud becomes the first French player ever to have scored two or more goals in a Serie A match against Inter.

Napoli win the Serie A Week 24 game against Venezia at the Pierluigi Penzo Stadium.  The victory secured Napoli the 2nd position having a better goal difference (29) than AC Milan (23) also with 52 points.  Osimhen and Petagna give the Azzurri three gold points, now on equal points with Milan and -1 from Inter.  On Saturday at the Maradona, the super challenge with Inter.  Venezia needed the victory to avoid falling down to the relegation zone.   The good news is seeing Nani being in the first lineup with Venezia after his transfer.    Surely, Napoli with their fourth consecutive victory, relaunch themselves in the standings after two months full of difficulties. Osimhen hadn’t scored for 112 days, the last one had achieved it in October 2021.

Roma failed to win the Serie A Week 24 game against Genoa ending with a goalless draw sharing one point each.   Roma getting a draw for the third time in this championship, remain sixth at 39 points, and are forced to watch their backs, as they can be joined by Lazio and Fiorentina, opponents in this round of the championship.  Good point, however, for Genoa, which gnaws ground at the fourth-last Venice and arrives with the wind in its sails for the next match against Salernitana.  Coach José Mourinho celebrating his 100th Serie A coaching match.

Fiorentina and Lazio had the same points.  Breaking the stat is Lazio after winning the Serie A Week 24 game defeating Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.  It’s a sour defeat for Fiorentina considering it was a home game and also conceding an own goal.  Lazio reached 39 points. In the direct match, Lazio took advantage of this and, thanks to this victory, hooked city rivals Roma in sixth place in the standings. Proof of the strength of Sarri’s men who give a show and gain confidence in view of the second part of the championship.

Cagliari responded to the wake-up call and win the Serie A Week 24 game defeating Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. The defeat is a cold shower for Atalanta on their quest to be among the top 3 positions. Gastón Pereiro, however, signs the personal double and gives the three points to Mazzarri who comes out of the relegation zone and rises to seventeenth place with 20 points. Surely, a wasted opportunity instead for Atalanta who could now be overtaken by Juventus in the standings.  Cagliari climbed from the 18th to the 17th position. Atalanta stepped down from the 4th to the 5th position.

Sampdoria win convincingly crushing Sassuolo at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Sassuolo unable to react succumbed at the Ferraris. The victory helps Sampdoria to move away from the relegation zone reaching 23 points. Simply put, Sampdoria find a very precious victory for the race to safety thanks to goals from Caputo, Sensi, Conti and Candreva reaching 23 points in the championship. Bad defeat for Sassuolo, who will also face Roma in the next round without the suspended Raspadori and Scamacca.

Juventus with a sprint race to climb the Standing win the Serie A Week 24 defeating Hellas Verona at the Allianz Stadium Hellas Verona are now -12 points below Juventus.  The victory is highlighted with the two debut goals by the new Juventus players Dušan Vlahović and Denis Zakaria.

Great victory for Udinese defeating Torino climbing the Serie A Standing reaching 27 points.  The victory arrived in the last minutes of the games thanks to the goals by Nahuel Molina and Ignazio Puseetto.

Salernitana remain in the last position following the draw against Spezia at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy. Two masterpieces on a free-kick from the new number 10 Simone Verdi lead Colantuono’s team twice, reached by Spezia with two penalties awarded with the VAR.
