We have new leaders!!!    Napoli overtook the first position after winning the Serie A Week 27 game against Lazio at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.   Napoli won in extremis, in the 94th minute with the goal by Fabián Ruiz.  Napoli and AC Milan have 57 points each. Napoli took the first position for having a better goal difference +30 compared to Milan with +24.  Lazio stepped down to the 7th position with 43 points.

AC Milan lost focus failing to win against Udinese at the San Siro Stadium.   Milan with a somber performance, Udinese snatch a deserved point with a convincing recovery.  AC Milan had the lead and then let it go.  The draw is more a victory for Udinese while for Milan a total flop on their quest to increase the gap in the leadership.   On the twenty-eighth day, Milan will play against Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona while Udinese will face Sampdoria.

Inter with a flop ending the game against Genoa with a goalless draw at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.  Inter (55 points)  wasted a chance to take back the first position remaining with -2 points below AC Milan having 57 points(Iner with one game in hand).  For the moment, Inter stepped down to the 3rd position.

Salernitana ended with a draw against Bologna at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy.   The draw is not the expected result for Salernitana remaining in the last position.   Salernitana drew the fourth consecutive game for the first time in its history in Serie A.

Juventus with a sprint race defeated Empoli at the Carlo Castellani Stadium.  Juventus must climb to the top 3 positions to remain within the Champions League zone.  Empoli have not won in ten Serie A games, their longest unsuccessful streak since November 2018 (10, again under the guidance of Andreazzoli).

Atalanta humiliating Sampdoria with a poker at the Gewiss Stadium.  It is a fundamental victory for Gasperini’s men who had not managed to win three points in Serie A since last January 9 (6-2 against Udinese). Then three draws (against Inter, Lazio and Juve) and two defeats (with Cagliari and Fiorentina) had slowed down Atalanta’s Champions race but the victory against Sampdoria allows the Nerazzurri to move to -3 from Juve, now in fourth place ( and the Nerazzurri will have to recover the match against Turin).

Sassuolo defeated Fiorentina at the Mapei Stadium.   A superb victory for Sassuolo grabbing the winning goal in the 94th minute.  Sassuolo have lost only one of their last eight Serie A matches against Fiorentina (1-2 in October 2019)

Cagliari defeated Torino at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium.  Cagliari needed these precious 3 points to avoid falling down in the relegation zone.   Fresh from one victory and three draws, Cagliari’s big blow at the Olimpico, won with a score of 2-1 thanks to the goals by Raoul Bellanova and Alessandro Deiola. Torino failed to win the home game breaking their previous unbeaten record in 12 of their last 14 matches (7W, 5D) against Cagliari in Serie A. Cagliari provisionally goes to +3 on the relegation zone. Torino remain firm in eleventh place with 33 points collected in 26 games.

Hellas Verona won the Derby del Veneto in grand style defeating Venezia at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium.  The hero is Argentinean forward Giovanni Simeone “the Cholito” who returns to scoring after two and a half months and does it great with a hat-trick!   Simeone scoring now a total of 15 goals this season (his A record), becoming the Argentine footballer who has scored the most goals in the five major European leagues.   Venezia, the negative streak continues, with only 1 win in the last 13 games.

Spezia needed to win the game against at the Alberto Picco Stadium.  The victory for Roma helped them to climb towards the European zone.   Forward Tammy Abraham converted a penalty in the 99th minute to claim all 3 points.  With Mourinho disqualified in the stands, Roma in numerical superiority since the 45th minute, they waste a lot, hit four poles, but in the end, they bring home the three points and hook Atalanta in fifth place (two games less) at 44 points. Spezia remain with 26 points.   In the next round, Roma-Atalanta and Juventus-Spezia.
