MILAN – Paolo Mazzoleni is the designated referee for this Wednesday’s Serie A match between Palermo-Milan. The league encounter in Sicily will mark the Italian’s 147th match in the top-flight.
Milan’s record with Mazzoleni reads 7 wins, 5 draws and 7 defeats. Palermo on the other hand have won 4 times, drawn 3 and lost on 4 occasions when the Italian referee has been in charge.
MILAN – Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni will take charge of Wednesday’s Serie A match between Palermo-Milan at 20.45. He will be assisted by linesmen Francesco De Luca and Gianmattia Tasso. The fourth official has been named as Valerio Pegorin. The additional assistants meanwhile will be Daniele Doveri and Fabrizio Pasqua.
Before kick-off, the fans unveiled a banner (see the above photo) depicting Mark Hateley’s winner in the 1984 derby which saw the Englishman leap highest to head beyond the Inter goalkeeper and end a 5 year wait for victory over the Nerazzurri.
And to think, Inter took the lead that day in late October through Altobelli after only 10 minutes, but an equaliser from Bartolomei and Hateley’s second half header ensured Milan would take the derby day spoils.
On Sunday night, the Rossoneri didn’t need to come from behind but Alex’s towering header which broke the deadlock in a 3-0 win was spookily similar to Hateley’s derby-day winner all those years before.
