🇮🇹   The Italian Referee Association (AIA) has designated the match officials for the Serie A Week 36 game Napoli vs Genoa on Friday 9 May 2025 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Turin, Italy at 20:45.

The match will be officiated by Marco Piccinini from the A.I.A. section in Forlì. He will have Giuseppe Perrotti and Gamal Mokhtar as his assistant referees, representing the A.I.A. sections of Campobasso and Lecco, respectively. Ermanno Feliciani from the Teramo section will serve as the fourth official. Napoli triumphed over Lecce with a score of 1-0, thanks to Giacomo Raspadori’s stunning free kick that secured a crucial win in the Scudetto battle against Inter. Napoli showcased their heart, focus, and determination, prioritizing grit over flashy ball possession. Conte’s squad proved to be a formidable defensive unit, fiercely guarding their 1-0 lead. Lecce struggled to make an impact, with only Gaspar’s shot hitting the crossbar and a few late attempts that lacked real threat. Napoli capitalized on Raspadori’s brilliance and held on for a gritty victory, bringing their points total to 77, three ahead of Inter at 74. Inter secured a 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona, setting the stage for their Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona. At San Siro, with Simone Inzaghi suspended and Farris coaching from the bench, Asllani scored an early penalty to clinch the win. This result allows the Nerazzurri to keep pace with Napoli, who triumphed earlier today against Lecce. Inter will face Barcelona again on Tuesday, May 6 at 21:00 for the crucial second leg of the Champions League semi-final. Roma 1 – 0 Fiorentina. Mission accomplished, Roma has secured 63 points, climbing to fourth place as they await the outcome of Bologna-Juventus. Fiorentina, stuck at 59 points, may have to bid farewell to their hopes of qualifying for the prestigious European tournament. Roma has successfully achieved another victory, winning 1-0 and marking their 19th consecutive positive result in the league.  Dovbyk scored with an assist from Shomurodov, while Svilar made some fantastic saves, helping the Giallorossi earn three crucial points for the Champions League.

Parma 0 – 1 Como. Big disappointment for Parma.  Como continues to impress, achieving its fifth straight Serie A win for the first time ever. Fabregas’ squad also secures its fourth consecutive clean sheet and rises to tenth place with 45 points, surpassing Torino. Parma faced a tough loss despite a solid performance from the team, who had been on a winning streak since March 1st. Chivu’s squad still holds a six-point lead over the team in third-to-last place.

Monza 0 – 4 Atanta.  Total chaos, Monza has officially been relegated to Serie B with three matches remaining, marking the first confirmation of the relegation zone. The Brianza team fell to Atalanta, who finished the first half with a two-goal lead thanks to De Ketelaere’s brace. In the second half, Lookman and Brescianini added to the score. Carnesecchi also played a key role, making several outstanding saves. With 68 points, Atalanta is now very close to securing a Champions League spot and is eagerly awaiting the upcoming matches between Bologna-Juventus and Roma-Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, Empoli extends their winless streak to 20 matches, remaining in second-to-last place with 25 points.

Notably, Lazio is one of four teams in the league, alongside Atalanta, Empoli, and Hellas Verona, that has earned more points on the road than at home. The Biancocelesti have achieved two consecutive away victories and are looking to make it three in a row.  It’s a feat they haven’t accomplished since November 2022 when they won four straight away matches.

Lazio got off to a flying start with a quick goal just one minute in! Boulaye Dia found the net with a right-footed shot aimed at the center. Elseid Hysaj provided the assist with a perfectly timed through ball. Castellanos made a fantastic play that opened up the right side for Hysaj. After a cross from Hysaj, Viti misjudged his intervention, allowing Dia to sneak in behind. He controlled the ball with his chest and then finished with his right foot to make it 1-0 for the biancoceleste.

In the 38th minute, things got chaotic when Empoli’s striker Lorenzo Colombo engaged in a physical battle with Rovella during a long throw from the back. He accidentally kicked Gigot with his leg. It seems unintentional from the footage, but the referee saw it differently, issuing a yellow card followed by a red one.

Lazio is down to 10 players in the 76th minute after Elseid Hysaj is sent off. Sambia maneuvers around him and breaks free on the right wing, prompting number 23 to commit a foul that results in a second warning and a red card.

In the past 12 encounters between Empoli and Lazio in Serie A, Lazio has emerged victorious 10 times, with two matches ending in a draw. The last time Empoli triumphed over Lazio in this league was on November 29, 2015, when they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lorenzo Tonelli.

Lazio has triumphed in their last five Serie A games at the Castellani against Empoli, netting a total of 10 goals (averaging two per match) and achieving three clean sheets; before this, the Biancocelesti had only managed to win two out of their first nine encounters at the Tuscans’ ground (3 draws, 4 losses).

Empoli hasn’t secured a league victory since December 8 against Hellas Verona, marking a disappointing streak of 19 matches without a win (6 draws, 13 losses), which is now their longest in Serie A history. The Azzurri last triumphed over a team ranked above them in the standings during the final match of the previous season, defeating Roma 2-1.

Lazio is one of four teams in this league (alongside Atalanta, Empoli, and Hellas Verona) that has earned more points on the road than at home. The Biancocelesti are currently on a roll with two away victories and are aiming for a third consecutive win, something they haven’t achieved in Serie A since November 2022, when they managed four in a row.

Prepare for the exciting finale in the race for the Scudetto!  What a shocker! Inter is struggling and fell to Roma at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. They were under pressure to win to keep pace with Napoli in the Scudetto chase. Roma triumphed at the Meazza with Soulé’s crucial goal. The Giallorossi achieved their 18th consecutive positive result, nearly doubling their lead multiple times while facing minimal risk, securing a vital and slim victory.  Can you believe it? There are just 4 games left in the Season! It seems like Inter is running low on energy right when they need it the most!

What an incredible match! Napoli picked up the pace to secure a win. This isn’t just any win; it signifies their belief in the Scudetto. With this victory, Napoli has reached 74 points, surpassing Inter, who remains at 71 points after their loss to Roma. With four games left, the 2-0 win against Torino gives Napoli a +3 advantage over Inter at the top of the standings. With only 4 games left in the season, every match is critical. It’s time to focus and secure that victory!   The star of the show was undoubtedly Scott McTominay, who made headlines with his two goals, bringing his total to 10—just one shy of the prolific Romelu Lukaku.

HERE IS THE SITUATION:  Lecce and Parma are the next away games, while Genoa and Cagliari will be played at home. The pressure is mounting for survival teams aiming to stay in Serie A next season. Currently, Lecce, Venezia, Empoli, and Monza find themselves in the relegation zone.  Monza, currently at the bottom of the table with just 15 points, continues to fight despite the looming threat of relegation.

Juventus secures 3 points against Monza, the bottom team in the league, climbing back to fourth place with 62 points, ahead of Bologna and Roma. Nico Gonzalez and Kolo Muani lead the charge against Monza. While Juve sits in fourth, Yildiz’s unnecessary red card at the end of the first half was quite foolish. Surely, a precious victory for Juventus.  Not just to keep up with their rivals for 4th place but also to boost the spirits of their fans. Conversely, Monza has been on a losing streak that has put them in a dire situation.  They have a challenging gap to bridge to safety, even though their fate isn’t sealed by mathematics just yet.

Matches scheduled for Monday include Udinese versus Bologna, Lazio against Parma, and Hellas Verona facing Cagliari.

AC Milan defeated Venezia with a 0-2. The Rossoneri reached 54 points, holding onto 9th place. They secured a victory at Penzo with a goal in each half: Pulisic netted in the 5th minute, and Giménez sealed the win late in the second half with a gentle touch that left Radu with no chance.  Milan still has a chance to qualify for the Europa League by winning the Coppa Italia, a tournament where Milan advanced to the final after a decisive 3-0 victory over Inter in the second leg of the semi-finals.

Atalanta 1 – 1 Lecce.  A crucial moment for Lecce in their fight for survival, as they pull away from Venezia and Empoli, who are both just 2 points behind and in the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Atalanta strengthens their hold on third place, closing in on Inter, who are second and have suffered two straight losses, now sitting 6 points ahead while Juventus, Bologna, and Roma trail by 3 and 5 points respectively. Lecce hasn’t tasted victory in the league since January 31, when they lost 1-3 to Parma, and now they are under pressure from Venezia and Empoli, who are just one point behind.

Fiorentina got ahead early in the 7th minute when Yacine Adli found the net with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. Albert Gudmundsson provided the assist, skillfully spotting a gap for Adli to exploit. The former Milan player kept his composure in front of Vasquez and slotted the ball home!

Empoli is in turmoil! Fiorentina extended their lead in the 25th minute. Rolando Mandragora found the net with a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner, assisted by Yacine Adli. Adli delivered a cross from the right, and Mandragora executed a stunning overhead kick after skillfully lifting the ball!

In the 57th minute, Empoli closed the gap. Jacopo Fazzini found the back of the net with a powerful right-footed shot to the bottom right corner, thanks to an assist from Saba Goglichidze. He retrieved the ball on the right and delivered a low cross into the center, where Fazzini was quick to respond and scored!

In the last five Serie A encounters between Fiorentina and Empoli, four have ended in a tie, with one victory for the Azzurri in between. The two most recent matches also finished as draws, marking three straight draws in this Tuscan derby from 1987 to 1988.

Empoli has managed to remain unbeaten in their last five Serie A matches against Fiorentina, with one win and four draws. The only time they performed better against the Viola was during their first six top-flight clashes, which took place between 1986 and 1998, resulting in two wins and four draws.
