Empoli secured a victory in their Serie A Week 11 match against Como on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy. This marks their third win of the Serie A Enilive 2024-25 season, allowing them to leapfrog Roma and rise to 11th place in the standings with 14 points. Additionally, they achieved their fifth clean sheet of the season. On the other hand, Como has struggled as well, securing just one point over the last four matchdays in Serie A, with one draw and three losses. In October, this performance ranked among the three worst in the league, matching the one point earned by both Empoli and Genoa.

Como has managed to win just one of their last 11 away games in Serie A, with a 3-2 victory over Atalanta on September 24. The team has drawn once and lost nine times during this stretch, allowing goals in every match and totaling 25 goals conceded, averaging 2.3 per game. Additionally, Como has given up the most goals in the final 15 minutes of play this season, with eight goals conceded after the 76th minute. Only Inter has a higher percentage of goals conceded in this timeframe at 46%, compared to Empoli’s 44% (four out of nine). On the defensive side, Ardian Ismajli leads the league with 92 clearances, including 43 headers, while Mattia Viti has recorded the most tackles this season with 29.

Player Stats

Patrick Cutrone, a former standout player, had a notable season with Empoli in Serie A during 2021/22, where he made 28 appearances and netted three goals. He started the championship strong, scoring four times in the first six matches, but has since gone without a goal in the last four games, despite consistently playing at least 85 minutes in each match.

Andrea Belotti has found the back of the net four times against Empoli in Serie A, with all those goals coming in away matches, including his last hat-trick on May 1, 2022, while playing for Torino.

Torino won the Serie A Week 9 match against Como on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy.  This victory marks a turning point for Torino. After suffering three straight losses in Serie A against Lazio, Inter, and Cagliari, they were on the brink of a troubling streak. The last time they faced four consecutive defeats under one coach was back in February to March 2018, during Walter Mazzarri’s tenure. Torino secured a win against Como, reclaiming the three points they had been without for more than a month. This victory boosts the Granata to 14 points. Meanwhile, Como’s struggles continue, as they face their second loss in three matches and are now in danger of being surpassed by Monza and Parma, who are set to play against Venezia and Empoli, respectively.

This matchup marked a reunion for the two teams in Serie A after a long gap of 21 years and 154 days, with their last encounter on May 24, 2003, resulting in a 1-0 win for Como at the Sinigaglia.

.. and the goal arrived…

Torino broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. Braunoder attempted a header back-pass to Audero, but it lacked power, giving Njie the chance to sprint past Audero and slot the ball into the unguarded net. This marked the 19-year-old’s first professional goal for Torino.

Torino have remained unbeaten in 12 of their 13 home games against Como in Serie A (W7 L5), the only away win for the Lariani against the Granata in the tournament dates back to 6 April 1986 (3-1).

Torino are coming off three consecutive defeats in Serie A (vs Lazio, Inter and Cagliari) and under a single coach they have not achieved four consecutive defeats in the league since the period between February and March 2018, under Walter Mazzarri.

Como drew their last league match (1-1 against Parma) and have not recorded two draws in a row in Serie A since February 2003 (against Empoli and Parma in that case).

After his goal against Cagliari in the last round, Antonio Sanabria (48 – 39 goals and 9 assists) is close to being involved in 50 goals in Serie A; the Paraguayan, however, has not been involved in a goal for at least two consecutive appearances in the competition since May 2023 (a streak that has now reached four).

Napoli celebrated a Serie A victory after overcoming Empoli at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. This is an important win because guarantees Napoli’s continued dominance at the top of the league. The match hero was Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who netted the only goal from a penalty, resulting in a final score of Empoli 0 – 1 Napoli.

Inter triumphed over Roma at the Olimpico Stadium, bringing them closer to league leaders Napoli. With this win, Inter now has 17 points, just 2 points shy of Napoli with 19 points. Meanwhile, Roma remains stuck in the mid-table with only 10 points. Despite Roma’s efforts to bounce back, Juric added more attacking power with Soulé, who posed a threat on two occasions but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Juventus secured a victory against Lazio at the Juventus Stadium in Turin.  The thrilling match concluded with an unfortunate twist for Lazio and a fairy-tale finish for Juventus. In the 85th minute, an own goal by Mario Gila sealed the fate. Juan Cabal delivered a cross from the left, and although Gila made contact, he inadvertently sent the ball into his own net.  Juventus reached 16 points, while Lazio remains at 13 points.

AC Milan obtained a hard-fought victory even after being reduced to 10 men from the 29th minute. Referee Daniele Chiffi issued a red card to Tijjani Reijnders. Despite the numerical disadvantage for more than an hour, Fonseca’s squad managed to clinch three crucial points in front of their supporters.  Udinese found the net through Kabasele, but Ekkelenkamp’s toe poke was ruled offside, spoiling their efforts. The home fans erupted in celebration after a tense match, narrowly avoiding embarrassment in injury time.  At the end, the Rossoneri retained the victory.

The struggle is on for the bottom three teams seeking to escape their predicament. However, there are six teams battling to improve their standings and steer clear of the relegation zone. Parma sits at 6 points, while Cagliari, Lecce, and Genoa each have 5 points. At the very bottom, Monza and Venezia are tied with 4 points each.

Como and Parma ended with a 1-1 draw.  Parma has maintained an unbeaten record in their last two encounters with Como in Serie A during the 2002/03 season, achieving a 2-0 victory in the first leg at the Tardini and securing a 2-2 draw in the return match at the Sinigaglia.

Genoa failed to defeat Bologna. The action wraps up with a draw means both teams walk away with a point in the overall standings.  Bologna with a better average. The chaos is for Genoa struggling to climb from the relegation zone.
