Fantastic news! Como 1907 triumphed over Al-Ahli, the current champions of the Asian Champions League, winning 3-1 in the inaugural match of the Como Cup on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.  Gabriel Strefezza was named the match MVP.

Allan Saint-Maximin, the former Newcastle winger, opened the scoring for the Saudis in the seventh minute. However, Como equalized in the 30th minute. Gabriel Strefezza sent a perfect left-footed cross to Patrick Cutrone, who headed it in for his first pre-season goal.

In the 48th minute, a cross from Álex Valle was accidentally turned into his own net by Merih Demiral, the ex-Juventus and Atalanta defender, giving Como a 2-1 advantage. The final touch came in the 69th minute when Ivan Azón scored his third goal in just two friendlies, assisted by Douvikas.

It’s also worth mentioning the starting debut of former Celtic player Nicolas Kühn, who showcased a fantastic first-half dribble. Furthermore, the debuts of Martin Baturina and Jayden Addai (his second appearance). Nico Paz also made his return to the field.

Como is now looking forward to facing the winner of the match between Ajax and Celtic, which is set for Thursday, July 24th. The final will take place on Sunday, July 27th at 8:00 PM.
