Italian Soccer Serie A

👉    Hello, my friends. Here are the 2022-2023 Italian Serie A Week 32 RESULTS / Thirty-second Round on Friday 28, Saturday 29, and Sunday 30 April 2023.  Napoli remain the sole leader with 78 points.  Mathematically speaking, Napoli will have to wait until Round 33 to claim the Scudetto after ending with a draw Round 32 against Salernitana at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Boulaye Dia’s equalizer silenced the Napoli fans postponing the “Scudetto Party” after Mathias Olivera opened the score in the second half.  Boulaye Dia equaled Salernitana’s record for goals in a single Serie A season: 12 like Marco Di Vaio in 1998/99.  For the first time in Serie A, Napoli scored 79 points after 32 matches (always considering three points for a win).

Napoli will have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to celebrate. After Juventus’ draw against Bologna, now only one point will be enough for Napoli to give the mathematical certainty of the title. But the Scudetto could arrive at the hotel as early as Wednesday, yes, if Lazio fail to beat Sassuolo at the Olimpico.

The Champions League race remains open with Inter, AC Milan, and AS Roma sharing 57 points each.  Lazio remained in the 2nd position despite losing the game against Inter. Juventus ended with a draw against Bologna, though, are in the 3rd position.

Fiorentina have won a game by at least five goals for the first time since Fiorentina-Genoa 6-0 on 17 January 2022.  With the goals from Duncan, Dodò, Terzic, Fiorentina’s total goalscorers in Serie A TIM rise to 13 in 2023, no team has done better in the set (Atalanta also has 13).

Juventus have gone unbeaten in their last 22 games against Bologna in Serie A (W17, D5), the Bianconeri’s longest open streak without defeat against teams currently in Serie A.

In 2023 Riccardo Orsolini is the Italian player who has scored the most goals in Serie A TIM (seven like Domenico Berardi).

Lecce won a home match in Serie A TIM for the first time since last January (2-1 vs Lazio). Lecce kept a clean sheet at Via del Mare in Serie A TIM for the first time since February 2020 (4-0 vs Turin).

Monza have scored 22 points in their first 16 away matches in the league; the last team to have recorded this result in the first 16 away games in Serie A was Chievo in 2001/02 (22 points). Nine of Monza’s last 10 goals (excluding own goals) have been scored by different players: Izzo, Sensi, C.Augusto, Colpani, Rovella, Caldirola, Mota, Pessina and Ciurria.

Milan and Roma have drawn in back-to-back Serie A games for the first time since 2013. Rafael Leão has been involved in 19 goals in the current championship (12 goals and seven assists), equaling the number of goals registered in the whole of the last Serie A TIM season (19 – 11 goals and eight assists).

It’s the second time in his career that Antonio Sanabria has scored double digits in a single season after 11 for Sporting de Gijón in 2015/16 in the top five European leagues.

Lautaro Martínez is the third Inter player to score more than 15 goals in at least three consecutive Serie A seasons in the last 55 years, after Christian Vieri (between 2000/01 and 2002/03) and Mauro Icardi (four, between 2014/15 and 2017/18).

Empoli and Sassuolo have never drawn in 12 matches in Serie A: in the history of the competition, no match has been played more often without ever finishing in a draw. Sassuolo are unbeaten at home in their last five Serie A matches (W4 D1), their best run at the Mapei Stadium since February-May 2021 with Roberto De Zerbi on the bench.

Simone Verdi returned to score in two consecutive Serie A TIM matches for the first time since May 2022, when he wore the Salernitana shirt.

Cremonese drew a home match in Serie A TIM for the first time since last November (vs Milan).

Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Torino, 11th position with 42  points and a negative goal difference of -4
Atalanta, 7th position with 52 points and a positive goal difference of +15

Atalanta caused an upset by defeating Torino in the Serie A Week 32 game on Saturday 29 April 2023 at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin, Italy.   Atalanta in a full Champions League run reached 55 points, two points off fourth place. The draw between Rome and Milan still leaves everything open for Atalanta who can now dream of overtaking and qualifying for the top European competition. Meanwhile, with today’s victory in Turin, Gasp’s team momentarily surpasses Inter, engaged tomorrow in the home match against Lazio. Torino lost the opportunity to catch up with Monza and Bologna, currently two points ahead. Juric’s team hadn’t lost since 8 April, from the home match against Roma.

Atalanta need victories to be able to hope for qualification in the Champions League and will try to do so in the next round. Midweek commitment for Serie A: Gasp’s team will face Spezia, on the same day Torino will also be engaged in Marassi against Sampdoria.

Davide Zappacosta opened the score by defeating Torino goalkeeper with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Giorgio Scalvini.

Torino equalized for the 1-1 in the 75th minute. Antonio Sanabria level the score with a right-footed shot to the center.

Atalanta took the lead again in the 88th minute. Colombian forward Duván Zapata scored with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Davide Zappacosta.

✅   Stats before the game: After winning two games in a row against Atalanta in 2019, Torino have lost four of their last six games against the nerazzurri in Serie A (D2); for the granata there are as many defeats as in the previous 19 matches against the Bergamo players (10W, 5D). Atalanta have won their last three Serie A away games against Turin; in the competition the Bergamo players have a longer open streak of away victories only against Cagliari (four). Torino have failed to score more than one goal in their last five league games and in Serie A they haven’t gone more games without at least two goals since October 2022 (seven in that case). Torino have picked up just one point in their last three Serie A home games and have not gone more home games in a row without a win since April 2022 (D3, L2). Atalanta have won three of their last five Serie A matches (D1, L1), as many successes as those obtained in the previous nine matches played in the top flight (D2, L4).

👉Lineup Torino (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic Savic; Djidji, Schuurs, Buongiorno; Lazaro, Linetty, Ilic, Rodriguez; Miranchuk, Karamoh; Sanabria.

👉Lineup Atalanta (3-4-2-1): Sportiello; Toloi, Scalvini, Djimsiti; Zappacosta, De Roon, Koopminers, Maehle; Pasalic, Ederson; Hojlund.
