The partnership represents the birth of a bond between two historic and successful brands.

Volkswagen have consolidated their presence in the world of football with a prestigious partnership deal which will see them join forces with ACF Fiorentina. The German automobile manufacturers become both and Institutional and Official Automotive Partners. The collaboration is one which brings together two elite organisations, both of which boast an illustrious history and an international presence.

Volkswagen and ACF Fiorentina owe their great popularity to their long traditions. Volkswagen were formed 77 years ago and have been present in Italy for 60 years, whilst Fiorentina were founded in 1926 and are undoubtedly one of the most prestigious names in Italian football.

A truly modern organisation, Volkswagen form part of a group with a presence in 153 global markets, producing its vehicles in over 100 plants across the world. ACF Fiorentina is a similarly international brand, boasting players from 17 different countries and over 2.5m fans on social media. The club is one of the most broadly-supported teams in Italy – with 25,000 annual season ticket holders – and is well-known abroad.

Through initiating a collaboration with such a respected and popular club, Volkswagen have once again underlined their desire to strengthen their presence in the world of elite football, in order to build an even closer relationship with the sport’s passionate followers.

In this sense, the “W il Calcio” platform will once again be the fundamental starting point for new communication initiatives launched in the name of the partnership with Fiorentina and their fans. These will involve participation from some of the biggest names at the club.

Another interest shared by the two organisations is that of young people. The Viola youth academy is one of the most prosperous in all of Italy and the club will further invest in the stars of the future by creating its first College, encompassing education, football and core values.

Similarly, Volkswagen also reach out to young footballers by organising a global 11-a-side football tournament, the Volkswagen Junior Masters. The competition, reserved to youngsters of between 11 and 13 years of age, sees the participation of thousands of players from 22 nations every year.

Fiorentina were unlucky not to get the three points tonight as they were twice denied by the woodwork. Sassuolo provided well-drilled opposition, but the game was played out almost exclusively in their half as a determined Viola side constantly looked to break them down.

Stefan Savic spoke briefly to the media in the build-up to Fiorentina’s game against Sassuolo.

The defender said: “Beating Atalanta was a confidence boost for us. Now we want to push on and get another three points against Sassuolo.”

He then commented on the absence of Gomez and Rossi: “It’s a shame but we have other excellent players who can come in for them.”
