It’s never easy to say goodbye.  Coach Cesare Prandelli  sending an emotional letter to Fiorentina Club and fans.  Here is what he has to say after resigning on Tuesday 23 March 2021 as published on Fiorentina official website.

“Florence, 23 March 2021.

This is the second time I’ve left Fiorentina. The first time was not my decision, but this time it is. In life, as well as the good times, there are also dark moments which can get on top of you.

I have been going through a period of profound distress which is preventing me from being who I really am. I began this experience with joy and love, spurred on by the enthusiasm of the new owners. It’s likely that that my love for the city, and the memories of the great moments I’ve experienced here, made me blind to the early signs that something wasn’t right inside.

My decision has been guided by the enormous responsibility I have towards the players, the club and – last but certainly not least – to the Fiorentina fans, for whom I have great respect.

All players at this level have talent, and when you have talent you are perceptive – I wouldn’t want my distress to be picked up and affect the team’s performances.

Over the past few months, a dark cloud has developed inside of me, changing the way I see things. I came here to give 100%, but I now feel that this is no longer possible and therefore I have decided to step back for the good of everyone involved.

I’d like to thank Rocco Commisso and his wonderful family, Joe Barone and Daniele Prade, who have always been right behind the team and me. Most of all, though, I want to thank the people of Florence, who I know will understand.

I’m aware that this could be the end of my career as a coach, but I have no regrets and don’t wish to have any. The world I’ve been a part of for my whole life probably isn’t right for me anymore – I no longer see myself in it. I’ve certainly changed, but the world is moving faster than I thought too. That’s why I believe the time has come for me to stop being swept along, stop for a while and rediscover my true self once again.

Cesare Prandelli has resigned as head coach of Fiorentina on Tuesday 23 March 2021. The news confirmed via Fiorentina official website and social media. Coach Giuseppe Iachini will return.

Prandelli leaving Fiorentina with the following stats up to Week 28 in the 14th position with 29 points.   Prandelli with only 3 wins in the last 11 games.  Overall, Fiorentina winning only 7 games this season and losing 13.

Fiorentina can confirm that Cesare Prandelli has resigned as Fiorentina coach.

Prandelli offered his resignation on Tuesday and – with great sadness – the club has accepted his decision, acknowledging that the reasons behind this go beyond football.

Over the past few months, Prandelli has given everything as coach, showing once again the deep bond that links him to Fiorentina and the city of Florence.

President Rocco Commisso, the senior management, the squad and all the Fiorentina fans would like to thank Prandelli and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours, both personally and professionally.

The game Inter vs Sassuolo has been postponed due to Inter reporting several cases of COVID-19.

Parma failing to win the Serie A Week 28 game a defeated by Genoa on Friday 19 March 2021 at the Sardegna Arena.   Parma living a nightmare because the dream for salvation is just becoming almost an impossible dream.  Genoa overturning the result making a comeback from 1-0 to claim the victory with a 1-2.

Bologna with an important away victory claiming all 3 points at the Ezio Scida Stadium.  The problem is for Crotone losing their 21st game remaining in the 20th position with only 15 points.  The relegation to Serie B is becoming a reality and Crotone not finding their way out.

Spezia  having a +7 points lead over Cagliari winning the Serie A Week 28 game at the Alberto Picco Stadium.  Spezia reaching 29 points while Cagliari remaining with 22 points down in the relegation zone.  The situation for Cagliari is delicate and the immediate response to make a change is a must to get away from relegation.  Special victory for Bologna players Adama Soumaoro and Jerdy Schouten scoring their first goal in Serie A.

AC Milan with a sprint race for the Scudetto race after their elimination in Europa League.   AC Milan win the Serie A Week 28 game against Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.  Fiorentina failing to win the home game and risk going down in the relegation zone.  The victory gives an added boost to the Rossoneri reaching 59 points being -6 points below Inter with 65 points and 1 pending game.

What a blow! Benevento winning the Serie A Week 28 game defeating Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.  This is a shocking defeat for Juventus and a super away victory for Benevento. It was the battle of the two ex-AC Milan teammates Benevento Coach Filippo Inzaghi and Juventus Coach Andrea Pirlo. Bam! Inzaghi causing an upset and stopping Juventus on their quest to climb the Serie A Standing being now -4 points below AC Milan with 59 points and -10 points below Inter with 65 points and a pending game. Benevento ended 11 winless game reaching 29 points being 7 points clear of the relegation zone in the 16th position. Juventus were unbeaten in their previous five league games.

The problem is now for Juventus because Atalanta reached 55 points same as Juve and a positive goal difference of +31 each.  Atalanta claiming the away victory defeating Hellas Verona with a 0-2 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium.

Another home defeat in this round is for Roma losing the game against Napoli.  Both teams had 50 points each and it is Napoli to grab the 3 points.  The status remain the same with Napoli reaching 53 points in the 5th position and Roma with 50 remain in the 6th position.

Sampdoria defeating Torino at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.  Torino not finding their way out remaining with 23 points  in the 17th position and just +1 point above Cagliari with 22 points in the 18th position.  It means, Torino risking to go down to the relegation zone….  Sampdoria reaching 35 points climbed to the 10th position being -3 points below Hellas Verona in the 9th position with 38 points.
