The big day arrived! The Milan Derby seeing a fierce battle. AC Milan claimed the bragging rights to rule in Milan after winning the Serie A Week 24 game “Derby della Madonnina” at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Inter took the lead, and then, AC Milan overturned the result under the leadership of Olivier Giroud scoring the 2 goals for the Rossoneri. Inter’s last home defeat in Serie A dates back to October 2020 against AC Milan. Despite, the defeat, Inter keep the sole leadership with 53 points (and a pending game) while AC Milan remain in the 3rd position with 52 points (same as Napoli). For the Rossoneri, it’s the first time to win a Milan Derby in Serie A coming from behind since February 2004. Giroud becomes the first French player ever to have scored two or more goals in a Serie A match against Inter.
Napoli win the Serie A Week 24 game against Venezia at the Pierluigi Penzo Stadium. The victory secured Napoli the 2nd position having a better goal difference (29) than AC Milan (23) also with 52 points. Sampdoria win convincingly crushing Sassuolo at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Sassuolo unable to react succumbed at the Ferraris. The victory helps Sampdoria to move away from the relegation zone reaching 23 points. Simply put, Sampdoria find a very precious victory for the race to safety thanks to goals from Caputo, Sensi, Conti and Candreva reaching 23 points in the championship. Bad defeat for Sassuolo, who will also face Roma in the next round without the suspended Raspadori and Scamacca.
