AC Milan won the second leg of the Coppa Italia Semifinal on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Milan has secured their spot as the first finalist in the 2025 Coppa Italia.

The Rossoneri triumphed over Inter with a narrow 0-3 victory, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, thus advancing to the final. Jovic shone with two goals, complemented by Reijnders, allowing Conceicao’s squad to defeat Inter once more and vie for their second trophy this season. Unfortunately for Inter, this marks the end of their hopes for a Treble.

The aggregate result: Inter 1 – 4 Milan

In the Coppa Italia final, Milan is set to compete against either Bologna or Empoli, with their match happening tomorrow evening, following a 0-3 score from the first leg.

This encounter marks the 29th meeting between the two clubs in the Coppa Italia, with the Rossoneri holding a slight edge with 10 victories compared to the Nerazzurri’s nine, alongside nine draws. This will be the third occasion that these teams have clashed in the semifinals of this tournament, following their encounters in 1985 (where Milan advanced to the final) and 2022 (where Inter progressed).

In total, Inter and Milan have faced each other 243 times across all competitions, with only one match extending beyond regular time, which occurred in the Coppa Italia on December 27, 2017, when the Rossoneri triumphed 1-0 over the Nerazzurri, courtesy of a goal from Patrick Cutrone in the first half of extra time.

The game …

In the 36th minute, AC Milan went ahead as Luka Jović found the net with a header directed to the bottom left corner. The goal was set up by Álex Jiménez, who delivered a fantastic cross. It was a brilliant play by Milan, with Jiménez providing a flawless cross for Jović, who expertly timed his jump to outmaneuver everyone and beat Martinez with a powerful header.

Milan is on fire, and Luka Jović is on a scoring spree! Jović found the net in the 49th minute with a close-range left-footed shot to the bottom left corner after a corner kick given away by Kristjan Asllani. After a deflection in the penalty area from the corner, Jović was quick to capitalize and score again. That’s two goals for the Serbian and a second for Milan!

Inter had no chance! Milan clinched the win in the 85th minute when Tijjani Reijnders found the net with a left-footed shot from the left side of the box into the bottom right corner, thanks to an assist from Rafael Leão. With this goal, Milan effectively sealed the match at 3-0. It was another fantastic play by Milan, with Leão shining as he set up Reijnders, who skillfully finished with a left-footed shot that slipped past Martinez’s legs.

👉  Atalanta won the Serie A Week 33 showdown on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Atalanta triumphed over Milan, securing their position in the Champions League zone, while Milan struggles. Ederson’s goal proved to be the turning point. Milan’s response was lackluster, managing to stay competitive until the end, thanks in part to a stellar performance from Maignan and a significant mistake by Retegui. Nevertheless, Atalanta emerged victorious and is soaring high. In the upcoming match,

Atalanta will take on Lecce, while Milan is set to play against Venezia.

This was just the second instance where Milan faces Atalanta while trailing by at least 10 points in the league standings (with Atalanta at 61 points and Milan at 51). In fact, out of the 127 previous encounters between these teams, this situation has only arisen once: on the 36th matchday of the 2019/20 season, when they were 15 points apart, leading to a 1-1 draw at the Meazza.

Atalanta gained the upper hand in the 62nd minute when Éderson found the net with a header directed to the center. Raoul Bellanova provided the assist with a well-placed header. It was a fantastic play by Atalanta, with Ademola Lookman setting up Bellanova, who expertly delivered the ball to Éderson, who skillfully outmaneuvered goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Éderson joyfully accepts the “Player of the Match” award after netting the sole goal of the game. Atalanta secured a 1-0 win against AC Milan, bringing their total to 64 points and placing them in 3rd position.

Stats before the game

After going unbeaten in five straight matches (W4 D1), Milan has faced setbacks, losing two of their last three Serie A games (D1) against Atalanta. This could mark the first time since May 2014-January 2015 that they suffer two consecutive defeats to the Bergamo side in the top division, during the tenures of coaches Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi.

Milan has only lost once in their last 13 home matches (W8 D4) in the latter half of the Serie A season against Atalanta, with that lone defeat occurring on March 30, 2008 (1-2). The last Rossoneri manager to experience a loss in their first match at the Meazza against the Nerazzurri during the second half of the season was Nils Liedholm in April 1978 (0-1).

Atalanta has not played on Easter in Serie A since 1978, when they lost to Inter. On the same date, Milan secured their most recent victory on Easter, winning 2-0 against Pescara. Notably, the Rossoneri and the Bergamo club have never met on this holiday in the league.
