Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for
the
Serie A Week 37, 2013 – 2014 Season on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 May 2014, matchday 37.   Countdown my friends! 1 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!   The fact is that we already know who won the Scudetto!  Yep.  Juventus winning the 2013-2014 last week!

Second position now is for AS Roma with 85 points whether they win, draw, or lose.  Ironically, the confrontation now between Roma vs Juventus is at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium and neither of the teams have nothing else to worry about.  Juventus will celebrate the Scudetto while Roma will be an observer.  Roma lost their chances to catch up Juventus last week after being humiliated by Catania at the Angelo Massimino Stadium with a 4-1.  This is a game for pride.  Roma will look to ruin the party mood of Juventus by defeating them.  Question is whether Juventus will let the Roman gladiators to ruin their Scudetto party.

As for the third position it belongs to Napoli with 85 points whether they win, draw, or lose.  The gap with the fourth position held by Fiorentina with 61 points is of 9 points.

We expect to see the last sprint race towards the Europa League zone.  For the moment, Fiorentina are the ones securing their spot being in the 4th position with 61 points.  We have four more teams battling for a spot in the Europa League with chances to make it depending on a combination of results.  Inter with 57 points will need to win this game against Lazio at the Meazza Stadium. Lazio with 53 points also having chances to make it in case of defeating Inter will reach 56 points.  Torino with 55 points facing  Parma is more a direct “Europa battle.”   Torino will make it to 58 points in case of defeating Parma.  Here is the thing.  A draw for Torino – Parma will not help, but risking their qualification.  Following closely is AC Milan also with 54 points.  Milan will play the away game against Atalanta at the Atleti Azzurri D’Italia Stadium.  Milan will need to defeat Atalanta and hope for Torino-Parma to draw to jump to the 6th position.  So, simply put,  Fiorentina, Inter, Torino, Parma, AC Milan, and Hellas Verona will be checking their respective results and making “calculations” to see whether they have a chance for the Europa League.

Battle for salvation are also in extremis.   Desperate moments for Catania with 26 points and Livorno with 25 points because if they lose their respective games, it means their goodbye to Serie A and start packing for relegation in Serie B.  Bologna with 29 points will face Catania at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium!  OUCH… here is a true battle for salvation. Bologna will look to win the home game and hope for salvation in Serie A next season.  Sassuolo and Chievo are also in danger of falling in the relegation zone.  An advantage for Sassuolo is they are playing the home game against Genoa.  Motivation high for Sassuolo after defeating Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi last week with a mega 3-4 results!  Chievo Verona playing the away game against Cagliari at the Sant’Elia Stadium.

Serie A PREVIEW Week 36, Italian Serie A PREVIEW 2013 – 2014 for Round 36 on Sunday 4, and Monday 5, and Tuesday 6 May 2014, matchday 36

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A PREVIEW for
the
Serie A Week 36, 2013 – 2014 Season on Sunday 4, Monday 5, and Tuesday 6 May 2014, matchday 36.   Countdown my friends! 2 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!

One clear fact….. Juventus are favorites to win the 2013 – 2014 Scudetto.  Sad news is that Juventus were eliminated in Europa League in the Semifinal.  Juventus will have to pick up the pieces and lift the morale of the team.  Here is the thing.  AS Roma pressuring in these last 3 games to cause an upset and revert predictions against all odds.  However, Juventus have an advantage and could win the Scudetto in this round with the following combination:

A. Juventus defeating Atalanta even if Roma defeat Catania.  The gap at the moment are +8 points advantage for Juventus having 93 points and Roma having 85 points.   There are only 2 more games meaning 6 available points.

B.  If Roma defeat Catania and Juventus lose against Atalanta, the gap will be +5 points for Juventus… still there are only 2 more games….  In case of this result happening, next week will be crucial as there is direct confrontation AS Roma vs Juventus on Friday 9 May at the Olimpico Stadium…..  in case of Roma winning, the gap will be shorten to +2 points advantage for Juventus and the winner of the Scudetto will be decided in the last Round, Week 38……

This week we have a desperate sprint race towards a spot in Europa League.  Featured game is the Derby della Madonnina: AC Milan vs Inter.   The Milan teams not only battling for the bragging rights the city of Milan, but also for the Europa League.  Inter are already in the Europa zone in the 5th position with 57 points.  Here is the thing. Inter will remain in the 5th position whether they win, draw, or lose. Yep, the gap with Torino in the 6th position with 52 points are a clear +5 points.   Inter will look to win the game to keep the challengers Torino, Parma, Lazio, and Hellas Verona all having 52 points away.   The real duel is for AC Milan playing practically for their lives!  A victory will give a ray of hope, Milan with 51 points will jump to 54 points and hoping for Parma also with 51 points to lose because in direct encounters Parma have the lead.

Battle for salvation are also in extremis.  Last chance for Catania to remain in Serie A.   Catania are playing the home game against AS Roma at the Angelo Massimino Stadium.  It’s a tough game because Roma need to win this game to keep up the race towards the Scudetto while Catania need to win it to leave the last position.  A defeat for Catania will difficult their stay in Serie A next season in case of Livorno, Bologna, and Sassuolo winning their respective games…   Chievo Verona also risking falling in the relegation in case of losing against Torino at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium.   Torino are battling to remain in the 6th position guaranteeing their spot in Europa League next season….

Serie A RESULTS Week 35, Italian Serie A ROUNDUP 2013 – 2014 for Round 35 on Friday 25, Saturday 26, Sunday 27, and Monday 28 April 2014, matchday 35

By Anna Italia
Follow me in Twitter

Hello my friends.  Here is the Serie A ROUNDP for
the
Serie A Week 35, 2013 – 2014 Season on Friday 25, Saturday 26, Sunday 27, and Monday 28
April
2014, matchday 35.   Countdown my friends! 3 more games after this
Round and the 2013 – 2014 Serie A will end on Sunday May 18!

Sassuolo 1 – 2 Juventus:  Surprise at the Mapei Stadium with Sassuolo taking the lead in the 9th minute with forward Simone Zaza!  Juventus equalizing in the 34th minute with forward Carlos Tevez scoring his 19th goal this season.  Juventus returning in the second half to win the game in the 57th minute with the goal by midfielder Claudio Marchisio.  It’s raining goals at the Mapei with Juventus increasing the score in the 76th minute with forward Fernando Llorente. Simply put, guys, Juventus the sole leader in Serie A… Scudetto on its way….

AS Roma 2 – 0 AC Milan:  A disaster for AC Milan failing big time to win this away game for their quest towards a spot in Europa League.  Total dominion by the Roman gladiators defeating Milan thanks to the goals by midfielder Miralem Pjanic in the 43rd minute and forward Gervinho in the 65th minute.  Roma winning their 9th consecutive game while Milan stopped the train at 5 consecutive win, now will have to restart……   The battle between the Old and the Young…. meaning Francesco Totti vs Mario Balotelli won by Totti providing the assist for Pjanic.  Balotelli not influential in the match, even replaced in the 69th minute by forward Giampaolo Pazzini.

Bologna 0 – 3 Fiorentina.  A slap in the face for Bologna on their quest for salvation.  Fiorentina leading in the 23rd minute with the goal by Juan Cuadrado.  Far from reacting, Bologna conceding another goal in the 34th minute by midfielder Josip Ilicic.  The man of the match, Cuadrado scoring the final blow against Bologna in the 87th minute. Chaos now for Ballardini. Fiorentina keeping the 4th position with a +5 points ahead of Inter in the 6th position both in Europa League zone.

Inter 0 – 0 Napoli: No harm.  A goalless draw not helping Inter.  The confrontation among two ex coaches Walter Mazzarri and Rafael Benitez.  Inter failing to win the home game and risk losing the 5th position.  Rafael
Benitez coached Inter from On 10 June 2010 replacing Jose Mourinho.
Benitez was sacked on 23 December 2010, despite winning the FIFA Club
World Cup.  Walter Mazzarri coached Napoli from October 6, 2009 to May 19, 2013
leaving Napoli in the 2nd position qualified for Champions League.  Mazzarri now coaching Inter since May 24, 2013
replacing coach Andrea Stramaccioni.  Next week is the Milan Derby, a game not only for the bragging rights to rule the City of Milan against AC Milan.  Hellas Verona following Inter closely in the 6th position…

Hellas Verona 4 – 0 Catania:  A demolition, Verona humiliate Catania sinking them deeper and deeper towards relegation.  Hellas Verona forward Luca Toni scoring 2 goals against Catania.  Verona reassuring their stay in Serie A next season.  Catania conceding 4 goals and by now is a goodbye.  Verona reaching 52 points dueling now for the 6th position to be in Europa League Zone while sending Parma down to the 9th position. Verona, Lazio and Torino having 52 points each.

Cagliari 1 – 0 Parma: Surprisingly, Cagliari giving a slap to Parma!  Cagliari opening the score in the 35th minute.
Forward Mauricio Pinilla converts a penalty with a right footed shot
defeating Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante in the bottom right corner.
The penalty is conceded by Parma defender Alessandro Lucarelli after a
foul on
Cagliari midfielder Daniele Dessena.
It’s the 7th goal this season for Pinilla.  It means, Parma go down to the 7th position and Verona to the 6th.

Sampdoria 2 – 1 Chievo Verona:  Sampdoria playing with 10 players making a comeback to win the game.  Referee Daniele Orsato giving a red card to defender Shkodran Mustafi in the 64th minute conceding a penalty after a foul on Chievo forward Victor Obinna.  Chievo opening the score in the 66th minute with forward Cyril Thereau converting the penalty with a right footed shot defeating Sampdoria goalkeeper Vincenzo Fiorillo in the bottom left corner.  Sampdoria scoring the winner goal in the 93rd minute by midfielder Roberto Soriano.

Here is the situation.  Juventus in the 1st position with 93  points and
a
positive goal difference of +52.  AS Roma in the 2nd position with 85
points and a positive goal difference of +52.  Napoli in the 3rd
position with 69 points and a positive goal difference of +28.
