“The best football is back,” reads the tagline for the 50th edition of the Gamper Trophy, which will see FC Barcelona host Roma on August 5.

The game at the Nou Camp will provide an excellent test for Roma, who are back in European action on Saturday against Sporting Clube de Portugal at Lisbon’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.

The pre-match conversation with Barca began earlier today on social media with a brief exchange of tweets. The two clubs greeted one another via their official English-language Twitter accounts before signing off in their mother tongues, Catalan and Italian respectively.
