🏆👉 Portugal win the UEFA EURO 2024 Matchday 1 against Czechia on Tuesday 18 June 2024 at the Leipzig Stadium in Leipzig, Germany. Francisco Conceição came off the bench to grab a stoppage-time winner. It’s a memorable victory because it came on a day when the nation hit two Euro milestones right from kickoff. Forward Cristiano Ronaldo became the first to play in six European Championships and his teammate Pepê, the oldest, at age 41. Portugal joins Turkey at the top of Group F with three points while the Czech Republic remains stuck at zero in the company of Georgia.
The hero tonight is Conceição, 21-year-old, because he scored in the third minute of added time the winner goal. First half controlled by the Portuguese, dangerous on two occasions with Ronaldo, but closed without great results; in the second half the Czechs took the lead through Provod but Hranac’s own goal and Conceicao’s goal in injury time crowned the comeback and handed the first three points to Martinez’s boys.
In the next round scheduled for Saturday, the Czechs will challenge Georgia and the Portuguese against Vincenzo Montella’s Turks.
