🏆 👉   Inter win the First Act of the Milan Super Derby by winning the UEFA Champions League Semifinal First Leg against AC Milan on Wednesday 10 May 2023 at San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. Inter grabbed this victory thanks to the goals by Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. In exactly six days, AC Milan and Inter will meet at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to play the second leg, this time at the home of Inzaghi’s team.

This is the fifth time that Milan and Inter have met in European competition, with the Rossoneri unbeaten in the previous four meetings (W2, D2). The two teams had previously crossed paths at this stage of the Champions League in 2002-03, when Milan qualified for the final, thanks to an away goal (1-1 on aggregate).

There is a cold shower for AC Milan. Inter opened the score in the 8th minute. Forward Edin Džeko defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a left-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Hakan Çalhanoglu following a corner conceded by Sandro Tonali.

Stats before the game:  Milan and Inter have already met three times in all competitions in 2022-23, with the Nerazzurri winning each of the last two (L1). Furthermore, the Rossoneri have not lost three matches against Inter in the same season since 1994-95 (two in the Coppa Italia and one in Serie A). After the 3-2 success in the first meeting against Inter this season (in Serie A last September), Milan have lost without finding a goal in the two previous games against the nerazzurri (0-3 in the Italian Super Cup and 0 -1 in Serie A). The last time the Rossoneri failed to score in three consecutive matches against Inter was between 1979 and 1980, under the management of Massimo Giacomini. Milan have only lost one of their previous six semi-finals played at the Giuseppe Meazza in the Champions League (W4, D1) – 0-1 against Barcelona in the first leg of 2005-06. In that tie, Milan conceded the only goal in those six games as hosts, having kept clean sheets in each of the other five. Milan have conceded only one goal in their last six Champions League matches, namely the one conceded in the 93rd minute against Napoli in the last round. In these six matches, the Rossoneri faced 86 shots, 27 of which on target, with an xG against of 6.8, despite conceding only one goal.  Inter have kept six clean sheets in six of their 10 Champions League games this season, but have never collected seven clean sheets in a single European Cup/Champions League season.  Lautaro Martínez has scored seven goals in 12 career games against Milan. Furthermore, since his first match against the Rossoneri in March 2019, the Inter forward is the player who has scored the most goals (seven) against Milan in all competitions.

AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjær, Tomori, Hernández; Tonali, Krunić; Díaz, Bennacer, Saelemaekers; Giroud.

INTER (3-5-2): Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Martínez, Džeko.
