PHILIPPE MEXES
“It was important to win, I don’t know if tonight was my last match, but it’s been an honour, we shall see. In light of our season, the minimum we could do was perform well in these final matches and also for our pride. Now we have to think about next season. We cannot look for excuses, but instead we must have the attitude that we have shown in the past matches. I think that everyone wants to see Milan in Europe and doing as well as possible, let’s hope for the best next season.”

CHRISTIAN ABBIATI
“We’ve collected 6 points from the past 2 matches, but there’s a bit of regret because we should have done more this season. It’s been a hard year, but as the coach always says work pays and by working in silence and consistently, in the end you’re able to do well. We have to come out of this situation for the respect of everybody. The club, the team and the coach all want to come out of it. I have been injury free this season, and it’s only in the past few days that I’ve had a minor knock, but nothing serious. The credit for my fitness this season is down to the coaches.”

MATTIA DE SCIGLIO
“I only came back to training yesterday. Today we all had the desire to end the season well. It’s a good starting point for next season. For the season that it has been, I wanted to end it well, we will now all unwind to then start off again strongly next season. After a tough season, with lots of disappointments, we have to rest-up well to reach new objectives next year. I hope all of my injuries have now passed so I can continue care-free in the coming years. Milan have to go back to the highest levels and have to get back into Europe.”

DAVIDE CALABRIA
“My debut was an amazing feeling. I didn’t expect it because I haven’t trained much this week because of an injury. When the coach called me to come on I was so excited! I tried to set-up De Jong, but they did well in defence. Our playing style with the youth team gives you the character to dominate matches and it helps you in the first team. I have thanked coach Inzaghi for everything he has done for me and for handing me my debut tonight.”

COACH FILIPPO INZAGHI (press conference)
“I thank everybody, the Bergamo public and the Milan fans. When you’re taken into people’s hearts, I think this is the biggest satisfaction for someone who does this job. I have a contract and if there is confidence in me, as there has been all year, I will continue because I think I have understood the problems, if you work well you are then able to collect results. I have a contract and so from tomorrow I will start to prepare for next season, and then we will talk together. However, I thank the club for this opportunity that they have given me and this experience will definitely be important for the rest of my career. I think it’s clear that the team are behind the coach and this is the best answer we could have given in relation to everything that has been said. I believe I am a very lucky man because life has given me so much as a footballer and now as a coach. I never get angry because the best response comes from the people that I meet and to be taken into people’s hearts is a wonderful thing.”
