Mexico triumphed over the United States, clinching the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday, 6 July 2025. This victory marked Mexico’s impressive 10th title in the tournament’s history. They successfully defended their title from 2023 and improved their record to 6-2 in Gold Cup finals against the U.S.

Mexico earned a free kick after Diego Luna fouled Alexis Vega on the flank. In the 77th minute, Edson Álvarez netted the winning goal with a close-range header to the bottom right corner, assisted by Johan Vásquez. Although the play was initially ruled offside, VAR confirmed the goal.
