MILAN – On this day in 1992, Carlo Ancelotti played his last ever match at the San Siro for Milan and marked it in style by netting a brace in a 4-0 win over Verona. It was only a farewell, seeing as Ancelotti would make a return to Milan as a coach, winning everything there is to win and consolidating his legendary status at the club and building a reputation as one of the top coaches of the modern game. The Italian would then take his experience abroad, enjoying success at Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid.
Also on this day, but in 1987, the rossoneri played out a goalless draw away at Udinese. The result was significant as it allowed Milan to qualify for the UEFA Cup play-off which they would win 1-0 against Sampdoria in Turin.
