FILIPPO INZAGHI (to the Milan Channel)
“I am sorry that I didn’t salute the fans at the end, they are always very good with me, throughout the whole season I have never come across anyone who has had anything bad to say. It’s incredible. They probably could have done so, but the love that bonds us is too strong. They see all that I give. The biggest satisfaction is the response from the team in a moment, which is difficult and hard, with lots of rumours, this is the response from a team that works and you see it every-day. It’s like I said in the press conference yesterday we’re not far off, but first of all we need a full squad. We’ve been missing lots of players, we’ve not had El Shaarawy all season, this has been hard for a coach to deal with. However, the foundations are good I think. We have done very well in the past two home matches against AS Roma and Torino and also away at Sassuolo where we would have won if what happened didn’t happen and possibly at Napoli. This is the best response from a group that wants to get back on track and wants to give their all for this jersey. The only match in which we did not perform was away at Udinese. In the rest, the team gave all that they had. Abbiati asked me today if he could give the captain’s armband to Pazzini, who really wanted to, as there was the chance to score 100 goals in Serie A and I agreed, because he deserved it. I believe that with a few additions this squad can get back to doing well. The injuries in January didn’t allow the squad to grow. Chelsea have lots of great midfielders and Van Ginkel needs to play. My wish would be, if possible, to keep him because he gives you a big hand during the week.”

GIAMPAOLO PAZZINI
“100 goals in Serie A? It’s an objective that I’ve been chasing for a while! Tonight I managed it and it happened with the captain’s armband. Abbiati gave me the captain’s armband before the match and said you now have to score your 100th! To score 100 goals with the captain’s armband makes it a very special evening. My friends and family were all in the stands. Abbiati is one of the leaders in the dressing room. His was a nice gesture. I am very happy for El Shaarawy. He has endured some tough months. He deserved it, he’s a good person and I wish him all the very best. I am happy to have scored, seeing as my son was also in the stands. Captain Montolivo will come back strong. This has been an unlucky year for everyone, tough to experience and to play, because when the results don’t come it’s always hard. The future? No one has communicated anything yet to me, we shall see. Everyone knows that I am happy here. What has been said by the President Berlusconi and CEO Galliani is good because it’s only right that a club like Milan gets back to competing again in Italy and in Europe as it’s in the club’s DNA.”

CHRISTIAN ABBIATI
“Captain’s armband to Pazzini? It was a gesture, a wish that he would reach the milestone of 100 goals. I am happy for him. Tonight is a small satisfaction and we have won the last match of the season at home and we played very well. Future? In my 15 years at Milan this is the first where I have always been available to the coach. Physically I am fine. The club knows this and so do the coaches. If they do not renew my contract, I will stop. Hard work pays and I believe in this. If you are a professional, things go for the best. El Shaarawy did well. I congratulated him on his goals. He played well. He was determined to get back on track after all the injuries and he did very well for the team today.”

STEPHAN EL SHAARAWY
“It was an immense personal satisfaction, to score again after 4 months out and to be back playing is a wonderful satisfaction, and to score 2 goals even more so. I am happy for the team because we wanted to end on a high in front of our fans. The objective is to be consistent with our performances, I am happy to be back and to be fit without problems. I feel fine now and I hope to start off again next season with this desire and this mentality. I am hoping for a call-up to the Italian national side in June and I am pleased that the Italy coach Antonio Conte was here today. It’s now down to me to be consistent.”

ALESSANDRO MASTALLI
“My debut? It’s a unique feeling, I still do not know how to describe it, to come on in a stadium like this is an incredible feeling, it’s still fresh and it will stay with me for the rest of my life. It’s obvious that when you start to train with the first team, you often think about the debut, I was hoping for it and today it arrived! I am really happy. I have to thank the club, the coach and everybody else. The youth team? We have to be aware of our strengths because we have shown what we are capable of. We now have the coming weeks to prepare for the Final Eight. I think I will be with the first team until the last match of the season and who knows if there will be another debut from one of us from the youth team.”

FILIPPO  INZAGHI (press conference)
“When El Shaarawy plays, you can see what he can do. Just like Montolivo. It’s the regret of the season that we’ve never had them available. I am happy with the team’s performance. I am happy with how we played versus Torino. We had a great match and we prepared well for it. I think it is nice for the club to see that the foundations are there. There is a squad that works and pulls in the same direction as the coach. Amongst the difficulties of this season, this is a small satisfaction. I have a contract, I hope to continue and I think I know how to come out of these difficulties. The positive aspects are the matches like the one against Roma and tonight against Torino. Today in 10 men we went in search of a second goal. The club will make their evaluations. I am sorry not to have saluted the fans, who have been fantastic with me all year. They have been too good to me. I give my all, but it’s not from one minute to the next that you can think about becoming great again. I am a professional and I will continue to work until the end. I am happy about Mastalli’s debut. My regrets are the injuries. The coach can come up with things, but certain players cannot be replaced and this was clear tonight. Errors will always be made. Those that do not work, don’t make errors. Let’s wait for the last match and then we will sit down with the club to understand how we can improve this squad. When a person works every day, you can see this in the end. When you prepare things well, you become credible in the eyes of the squad. The squad has always given their all this season and it’s something that will always stay in my heart. Abbiati was extraordinary, level with Diego Lopez. I think Abbiati deserved to play today. Pazzini deserved to play I think for his efforts this season. I am happy that he has reached the milestone of 100 Serie A goals. If I were on the sidelines I would have hugged him. It’s a shame the season is coming to a close. We’re in good shape in these final matches. When Pazzini hasn’t played, there was Menez and Destro that always did their best. I will always be a Milanista. My thoughts now are on the Atalanta match and to take Milan back to the levels that the club is used to.”
