I want to congratulate our beloved Italy and AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini on his 48th Birthday on behalf of Italian Soccer Serie A blog. Maldini made his debut with AC Milan on January 20, 1985 and retired from professional football at age 41 in 2009.
Paolo Maldini was born in Milan, Italy on June 26, 1968. Maldini is son of another legend, Cesare Maldini and his mother is Maria Luisa De Mezzi.
- Paolo Maldini, legendary AC Milan and Azzurri captain Paolo is considered to have been one of the best defenders in the history of football.
- Maldini started his career as left back, but developed into a center back in his later years as a professional player.
- Maldini spent his whole career, 25 seasons, with AC Milan achieving a record of 902 total caps (647 league, 255 cup) and won everything with AC Milan: Seven Serie A titles, one Italian Cup, five Italian Supercups, five European Cups/UEFA Champions Leagues, five UEFA Super Cups, three Intercontinental Cups/FIFA Club World Cups.
Maldini also playing for the Italian National team:
- Maldini played for Italy team between 1988 and 2002. He collected 126 caps for Italy, 74 of which came while wearing the captain’s armband, and scored seven goals. He finished runner-up at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2000. He entered the Hall of Fame of Italian Football in 2012 in the category “Italian Player”.
