INZAGHI TO THE MILAN CHANNEL: “SQUAD TO END THE SEASON STRONGLY”

MILAN – Filippo Inzaghi also gave an exclusive interview to the Milan Channel today. Here were the coach’s thoughts to the club’s in-house TV station:

Opening comments on the last Champions League triumph for the rossoneri, which happened on this day in 2007: “The final in Athens brings back great memories. The 23rd of May is an unforgettable date and so was the year 2007 too. The luck that I had as a player is still missing as a coach because we’ve often been unlucky with all the players lost through injury. Destiny was kind to me in 2007 as I was able to play against Liverpool and Boca Juniors after the previous finals that we lost. I am sure that we will go back to being great again.”

Inzaghi continued: “This team has had an excellent attitude in the past 3 matches. I am hoping for a match like the one against Roma. Against Napoli and Sassuolo the attitude was also good. We have to be consistent with our performances. The team want to end the season on a high. Bonaventura and Diego Lopez have shown they are real men and there are many of them in this squad.”

Team news: “El Shaarawy is coming from a period in which he’s spent many months without playing. My hope is to give him a start. He seems fine but I also have Di Molfetta in that position. I will decide today whether to start El Shaarawy or maybe Di Molfetta or the other way around.”

Focus on Sunday’s opponents: “It will be a hard match, Torino are doing well. We cannot think about the players that we have missing. We hope we can play well and give a good response and end the last match by leaving a good memory.”

More from the coach: “I have grown, just like the team has. There have been positives to build on, while there have also been negatives. I hope to stay and to give my all with the same passion as always. We must be good in bringing the fans back to the San Siro.”

Closing comments: “Playing for Milan makes things more complicated. Saponara against Palermo was perhaps one of the best players out on the pitch, but then the next day it was written that he was the worst. It’s never easy with the young players because there is no patience. We hope that, just like with Niang, they do well and they can one day come back to Milan and do well.”
