The verdict moment.  Inter very convincing won the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa Semifinal game Second Leg “Derby della Madonnina” crushing AC Milan on Tuesday 19 April 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Total dominion by Inter while AC Milan unavailable to react after a goal ruled out.  Inter are now waiting for the winner of the semifinal between Juventus and Fiorentina. Milan who tried to reopen the game on several occasions, Leao and Theo Hernandez the most dangerous but never enough to overcome Handanovic. Inter took home the derby and access to the final of the Italian Cup, the final 3-0: a brace from Lautaro Martinez, Gosens closes the match. The Coppa Italia final will be played on May 11.

Inter and Milan face off for the 27th time in the Italian Cup. Stats: AC Milan 10 wins, 8 draws, and Inter 8 wins.

Trivia:  Do you know that none of the last 28 goals in the Milan Derby of all competitions have been scored by an Italian player?  The last one dates back to 27 December 2017, in the Italian Cup, signed by Patrick Cutrone, who thanks to his goal in the 104th minute gave AC Milan the pass for the semi-finals of the competition.

Inter opened the score in the 4th minute. Argentinian forward Lautaro Martínez defeated AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a right-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Matteo Darmian.

  Stats before the game.  AC Milan have either gone through the round or won the trophy in five of the eight knockout matches against Inter in the Coppa Italia – however, the last two-way home / away match between these two sides saw the passing of the round of the Nerazzurri, in the quarter-finals of 1999/2000.  Milan are 3 games unbeaten against Inter, considering all competitions (1W, 2D) – the last longest streak for AC Milan without defeat against Inter dates back to April 2005, with a series of 10 matches.  For the 14th time in their history, Inter and AC Milan will face each other four times in a single season (not since 2004/05, three wins by AC Milan and one draw in that case) – in seven of the previous 13 the Rossoneri have remained unbeaten in all four seasonal challenges.  Inter have been eliminated in each of the last four occasions in which they have played the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, after having passed the round in six of the previous seven: in general, the Nerazzurri are the side that suffered the most defeats at this stage of the competition (19).

Milan have lost only one of their last nine Coppa Italia matches (4W, 4D), a defeat that came against Inter in the quarter-finals of the last edition of the tournament: 2-1 on 26 January 2021 decided by a direct free kick by Christian Eriksen in the 97th minute of play (after goals from Lukaku and Ibrahimovic).
