MILAN – The Round 38 Serie A fixture between Atalanta-Milan ended 3-1 in favour of the rossoneri on Saturday night.

After an even start to the match, it was the home side that broke the deadlock when Baselli connected with a Maxi Moralez cross and headed beyond the reach of Abbiati on 21 minutes. Milan reacted well and after pinning the home side back in their own half, were awarded a penalty after Masiello made contact with Pazzini inside the penalty area. The Milan striker brushed himself off to convert it on 36 minutes and sent Sportiello the wrong way.

Buoyed by the equaliser, the rossoneri completed the comeback just 2 minutes later thanks to former Atalanta man Giacomo Bonaventura, tapping in a rebound that came off the post from close range. As a sign of respect the midfielder didn’t celebrate. The rossoneri eventually opened up a two goal cushion with 10 minutes remaining and once again it was Bonaventura on target. The ex-Atalanta man, just like with his first goal, didn’t celebrate in front of his former fans.

Here are the stats to emerge from the match:

2- the number of goals scored by Giacomo Bonaventura against his former side after Saturday night’s match in Bergamo.

5- by scoring on Saturday, Bonaventura and Pazzini took the number of goals scored by Milan players against their former sides this season to 5. The other three were: Poli versus Sassuolo, Zaccardo versus Parma and Destro versus Roma.

4- Pazzini took his goal tally for the season to 4 by netting against Atalanta on Saturday night. 3 have been scored in Serie A and 1 in the Coppa Italia. Along with Nigel De Jong, Pazzini is the only other player in the Milan squad to score in both competitions this season.

4- the number of youth team players handed their Serie A debuts by Inzaghi this season. After Gian Filippo Felicioli and Alessandro Mastalli in previous weeks, in Bergamo it was the turn of Davide Di Molfetta and Davide Calabria.

5th of March 2005- to find the last time Milan came away from Atalanta with 3 points with a 2-1 score-line you have to go back to the 5th of March 2005. On that day, Ambrosini and Pirlo were on the score-sheet for Milan.

223- this is the number of days since Milan have won away from home by scoring 3 goals. On that occasion, Milan ran out winners away at Hellas Verona. Honda netted a brace and Milan’s other goal came from a Marques own-goal.

35- the number of players used by coach Inzaghi this season in Serie A. Davide Calabria and Davide Di Molfetta were handed their first appearances in Serie A against Atalanta.
