MILAN – At the end of the ‘Match for Expo’ on Monday evening Christian Abbiati spoke exclusively to Milan Channel: “It was a real pleasure when Zanetti asked me to play, it was a well organised event. It was great to see so many former teammates, lots of champions, it was emotional to see them all again. when I got to the stadium and I saw that Nesta and Billy were playing for the other team I asked Toldo to swap teams so that I could play up front with them.

Abbiati also spoke about the difficult period Milan are going through: “Every player now has to prove that they deserve to wear the Milan shirt and to prove that they deserve to wear it next season as well. In the game against Napoli, if you take away the sending off after just one minute, my teammates showed a lot of character for 70 minutes then of course we conceded a goal and we let our heads drop but I have to say that for 70 minutes everyone on the pitch battled hard for every ball. Things just aren’t going our way at the moment because we lost a player after a minute and then we could also have taken the lead in the first half but that didn’t happen.”
