MILAN – The Rossoneri’s road to Rome and the TIM Cup final began back in mid-August in the third round versus Perugia with a convincing 2-0 win at the San Siro. Milan had home advantage once again in round 4, overcoming Crotone 3-1 after extra time.
After seeing off two opponents from Serie B, the last-16 of the competition pitted Milan against fellow top-flight rivals Sampdoria. The Rossoneri didn’t put a foot wrong and ran out 2-0 winners.
The quarter finals presented Milan with another Serie A opponent, Carpi, and Milan once again came through with flying colours winning 2-1 at home.
In the semi-finals, played over two legs, Milan faced a potential banana skin as third tier Alessandria looked for another giant killing after knocking out the likes of Genoa and Palermo, but the Rossoneri’s superiority emerged over the two legs.
This Saturday, the final showdown, as Milan look to overcome the final hurdle and lift the TIM Cup against Juventus at the Olimpico in the Eternal City.
