TACTICS AT MILANELLO

MILAN – Friday’s training session at Milanello got underway with a warm-up and continued with a series of ball-drills: possession, keep-ball and a hand-ball match in which the players could only score with their heads. After further possession exercises on a reduced-size pitch, the players were then put through their paces with tactical drills in which the goalkeepers were also involved. Friday’s session came to a close with the squad split into two groups: the defenders worked on defensive drills while the midfielders and forwards did shooting practice.Individuals: Bacca, Zapata, Bonaventura and Locatelli all trained with the rest of the squad. Alex and Mexes trained apart. Juraj Kucka continued his comeback from injury and ran through an individual training programme on the upper pitch before the team’s training session. Honda was another one who trained apart, working on an individual training programme, after taking a knock to his right foot whilst on international duty with Japan.Looking ahead to Saturday, the team will have another training session at 15.00 at Milanello and continue with their build-up to the league encounter with Atalanta. The coach meanwhile will hold a press conference at 13.00 and preview Sunday’s Serie A clash.
