News: SERIE A LAUNCH SCHEME TO HELP ATHLETES WITH THEIR STUDIES

MILAN – Struggling to keep up with both your study and sporting commitments? No more need to worry because you can now do both thanks to #LaBuonaScuola, the latest education scheme to help young athletes launched by the Lega Serie A.

Italy’s top-flight is proud to announce the ambitious and new initiative, in collaboration with the Education, University and Research Department, CONI and CIP, which has the aim of helping young athletes in Italy combine their study and sporting commitments, getting the best out of their talents and reducing as much as possible the risk of dropping out of education.

The trial project will be carried out over a three year period. The first phase will focus on students involved in Lega Serie A while from next year the project will be extended to athletes of all sports. In short, the participants won’t be slackening off when it comes to their studies and they will be doing the same lessons as their fellow students, but via an online platform so they can continue with their sports commitments. Through the online platform, they can also stay in touch and communicate with their teachers, class-mates as well as finding all of the learning material.

Each student will be paired with two tutors: one for school-work and one for their sports commitments making it possible to succeed in both areas. The project is targeted at secondary school students who play sport to a high level and this way they can pursue their dreams without having to give up on their studies. A total of 1.342 students will start the project from the Allievi and Primavera sectors (U17 and U19). Of these, 326 are on a professional contract and 13 have already made their top-flight debuts. No longer will they have to skip lessons because of matches or training, and thanks to a specific education programme and the latest technology, they can keep up with their classmates.
