MILAN – Cristian Brocchi has paid tribute to President Silvio Berlusconi who celebrates 30 years at the helm today. Via Instagram, the youth team coach has posted a photo of himself aged 9 with the Milan blazer and the story of his first meeting with the President all those years ago:
“I was 9 years old, I was little and I had never worn a suit before, it seemed so strange to me, we went to the away grounds and our opponents laughed at us, but at the same time, they feared us. I went to the annual Christmas party and I had the honour of meeting our President. He kindly asked me my name, I said Brocchi, Cristian Brocchi. He smiled and told me a joke that we have always remembered, and then he said: “We will become the most decorated club in the world and we will then go on to win even more prestigious trophies.” WE ARE MILAN and this phrase stayed fixed in mind for the rest of my career! After 30 years, can anyone say the opposite? I was full of enthusiasm and dreams, many of which have come true thanks to those words, and others I will achieve in the future!! Best wishes President!”
