Monza, 20th position with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -6

Monza having a tough time since their promotion from Serie B not winning a single game yet. Roma win the Serie A Week 4 game crushing Monza on Tuesday 30 August 2022 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. Three precious points for Roma reaching 10 points thanks to a brace from Paulo Dybala and a goal from Ibañez. In the two previous league matches between Rome and Monza, both in Serie B in the 1951/52 season, the Giallorossi team has always obtained the clean sheet. Monza recorded three defeats in their first three Serie A games, the last team to lose all of their first four games in the top flight was Benevento in 2017/18.

In the next round, Roma will play the away game in Udine, while Monza will host Atalanta.

Roma opened the score in the 18th minute. The goal by Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala defeating Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The headed assist is by Tammy Abraham.

Paulo Dybala inspired and just “smelling” goals! Yep, Dybala scoring in the 32nd minute after the ball rebound following a save by Di Gregorio denying Tammy Abraham attempt to score.

Chaos for Monza! Roma increased the score for the 3-0 in the 61st minute. It is Ibañez to score with a headed shot to the center. The assist is by Lorenzo Pellegrini with a cross following a corner conceded by Marlon Santos.

✅   Stats before the game: Roma have won both league precedents against Monza (2-0 away in December 1951 and 1-0 at home in April 1952, both in Serie B). Monza, on the other hand, achieved success in the only previous match between the two teams played in August (2-1 at the home of the red and white in the Italian Cup in 1988). After failing to find success in the first eight top-flight matches played on Tuesday (2N, 6P), Roma have won all four most recent ones (between 2014 and 2017), keeping clean sheets in the last three.Roma have lost only one of their last 43 Serie A matches against newly promoted formations (36W, 6N), a 2-3 against Venezia in November 2021 – the last home defeat against these opponents dates back to 31 May 2015 (1 -2 against Palermo, when Rudi Garcia was at the helm of the club).
Roma could earn 10 points after the first four Serie A matches of the season for the first time since 2014/15 (12 points out of 12 in that case with Rudi Garcia at the helm).Roma have remained undefeated in their last nine league home games (5W, 4N), the last time they struck a longer streak without home defeats in Serie A was in February 2021 (16 in that case).

👉 Lineup AS ROMA (3-4-2-1): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Kumbulla, Ibañez; Celik, Cristante, Matic, Zalewski; Dybala, Pellegrini; Abraham.

👉 Lineup MONZA (3-5-2): Di Gregorio; Marrone, Marlon, Caldirola; Birindelli, Pessina, Sensi, Machin, Carlos Augusto; Caprari, Petagna.

In the next round, Inter will face AC Milan and Cremonese will play the home game against Sassuolo

Cremonese won only one of the 14 games played at Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A (vs Inter and Milan), right at Inter on 10 May 1992 with Gustavo Giagnoni on the bench (double from Gustavo Dezotti). Inter have lost only one of the 22 games played on Tuesday in Serie A (1-3 v Novara on 20 September 2011 – also on matchday four at the time) – 15 wins complete the balance sheet for the Nerazzurri (including all the last six ) and six draws.
