AS Roma failing the first test to continue their journey in the Europa League.  Roma losing the Round of 16 First Leg against Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon, France.  This is the third consecutive lost.  Roma lost Serie A Week 27 game at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium:  AS Roma 1  – 2 Napoli and the Coppa Italia Semifinal match at the Olimpico:  Lazio 2 – 0 AS Roma.    Bye to the record, Roma were unbeaten in five European away fixtures this season with 2 wins, and 3 draws, and today a lost!    It will be tough for Roma to qualify to the Quarterfinals.  Roma will have to win the Second Leg with a 2-0 or a 3-1.

It is Lyon to open the score in the 8th minute.  Defender Mouctar Diakhaby defeating AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson with a right footed shot in the center.   The headed assist is by      Rafael.

Roma equalizing for the 1-1 in the 20th minute.  Midfielder Mohamed Salah defeating Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes with a right footed shot in the center.   The assist is by defender Federico Fazio.

Good reaction.   Roma taking the lead for the 1- 2 in the 33rd minute following a corner conceded by Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons.  Defender Federico Fazio with the perfect headed shot in the center  to encourage the squad.    The assist is by midfielder Daniele De Rossi .

Oh no!!!!  What a luck!   Lyon equalizing for the 2-2 in the  47th minute.   It is defender Corentin Tolisso to level the situation delivering a right footed shot in the bottom left corner. The assist is by Alexandre Lacazette.

Lyon coach making the first substitution i the 72nd minute.    Nabil Fekir replacing Emanuel Mammana.

Ouch!  Hello… Wake up Roma!   Lyon taking the lead again  for the 3-2 in the 74th minute.  It is midfielder Nabil Fekir to defeat Roma goalkeeper Alisson with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner.  The assist is by Lucas Tousart.   Gee… you bet Lyon would be happy seeing his first substitution making a difference in less than 3 minute already making a goal.

Wondering why Roma coach Luciano Spalletti making the first substitution so late…  In the 82nd minute midfielder Daniele De Rossi is replaced by Leo Paredes.

NOOOOOOOO   Lyon scoring again and now is 4-2.   In the agonizing 92nd minute,    Alexandre Lacazette delivering a right footed shot to the top left corner crushing Roma’s hope to at least equalize.   The assist is by Mathieu Valbuena.

You got to be kidding!     Hello…. Roma making the second substitution in the 94th minute!!   Hellooooooooo  what for???  This change should have worked earlier to energize the attack not in the final minute!!  Forward  Stephan El Shaarawy replacing forward Edin Dzeko.
